This manual is helfull for very generic and general repairs/maintainace but was not nearly specific enough for my 1999 4-runner to give me accurate instructions/diagrams. It was helpful but I would prefer something that describes my exact make/model better.

this is a very good book with a lot of tec information.It is easy to understand with a lot of pic to show a procedure

I know a lot about cars and tools but I do not know how to do much more than change my oil. I was hoping this book could help me out. So far it has not been able to. This is because it tries to cover too many vehicles in one book. If I am paying $20 for a repair manual, I would like some specific attention paid to MY car. This book covers the Tacoma, T-100, 4-Runner, and Land Cruiser. Each vehicle comes in two and 4-wheel drive combinations and there are around 5 different engines shared among them. They cannot possibly cover every part for your exact vehicle this way.

I was trying to change a belt on my 4-Runner and was disappointed to find that they only showed how to do it for a serpentine belt configuration, while I have 3 different drive belts.

Maybe if I was more knowledgeable about cars I would be able to use this book more effectively. Maybe I'm asking too much in this request. But I was hoping for a detailed guide made for my car.

I haven't used this book for anything other than general maintenance and trying to change my belts as aforementioned, so I guess I can only review based on that. Thanks for reading and good luck with your toyota!

This manual is absolute junk. Chilton has tried to cover far too much material for one book. They are trying to cover 4 different vehicles with 3 different (8 different layouts) engines in here. There are very few pictures, and few pictures available are often of a different motor/ layout than what you are actually trying to work on. The hand drawn diagrams lack sufficient detail to make actual location of parts practical. Some of the information is flat out wrong. I.E. location of the engine coolant drain on the 3rz-fe motor is on the opposite side from where indicated in this manual. The index is a joke and makes locating any specific information difficult and time consuming. Useful information like service interval for the fuel filter seem to be missing. There is some useful information here, other wise I would give it one star.

This is book has already paid for itself many times. I have been able to locate things on my Toyota Tacoma to adjust or replace and the total outcome is well worth this book's cost.
