Hermaphrodite hitman/woman. Big fat deal. Japanese anime, being a much richer and more diverse scene than the U.S. animation scene, also carries its share of dungheaps. This is one of them, another typical sexploitation plot with sensationalism galore.On a technical level this piece still blows most North American animation out of the water. Story-wise, however, it leaves practically everything to be desired. Also, Japanese animators tend to be unable to resist showing off, resulting in action sequences that, through overuse of looping and unnecessary elaboration, evoke no sense of momentum whatsoever. And the sex scenes are anything but erotic. More like pretentious and showy, like a strip dancer wriggling her backside for the 100th time to the same song. So leave this one be. |
