I had an old crusty fireplace damper that barely shuts and lets in cold like crazy! I put in a Chimney Balloon above the damper and it plugged the chimney.

I must admit I almost didnt even want to try this ballon out. I have a circular chimney and a flapper metal damper that does next to nothing for me (very cold). I tried one of the black draft stopper brand pillows for the fireplace and it wouldnt install around my damper handle so i had to return it.
I saw this balloon on amazon and figured it was worth a shot, i guess. Although i actually found it cheaper at another site (oh, did i forget to mention i am cheap?)

Anyway, you essentially stuff it up above the damper while it is flat and then you inflate it in place and it plugs the hole. Works pretty good too.

Now that i have the fireplace plugged I am really noticing how cold that stupid fireplace was making my house! But i am glad i have it fixed.

I have a wood fireplace that smells very bad in the summer. The round flue was broken and did not close well at all. I looked for flue parts and couldn't find replacement parts, so I tried this balloon to close the chimney off. It worked well and the smell stopped a few hours after I put it in.
