5.0 out of 5 stars china bayles' book of days
This book is sheer delight for all China Bayles' fans. I highly recommend it for anyone who shares my passion and hobby of herbs. Each day is filled with magic, useful information, gardening tips, recipes and so much more. I look forward to reading it each day. This is a super gift for friends who share a love for herbs. You will look upon each day of life as a gift...

2.0 out of 5 stars OK
The book was not quite what I expected. I had hoped for a usable day calendar with herbal info sprinkled throughout. The info contained is great; just no usable calendar.

I bought this book before Christmas, for me, and wasn't at all disappointed in it. I have always loved the idea of a book one can turn to as the days pass. This one has fascinating facts about herbs and lovely illustrations to boot. I enjoy looking through it as I relax and find the information engrossing.

Written in an easy to read daily format. You can skip around at will. Fascinating detail of herbs with their lore and uses. She writes anecdotes, recipes and a cornicopia of information to keep you grabbing it at every free moment. And she gives "Read more about it" references. Truly as enjoyable as it is educational.

5.0 out of 5 stars China Bayles' Book of Days, February 28, 2009
This review is from: China Bayles' Book of Days (Mass Market Paperback)
Susan Wittig Albert, author of 17 China Bayles mysteries set in fictional Pecan Springs, TX has written a book celebrating the world of mystery and the magic of herbs. Fans of the China Bayles series know that China owns an herb shop called Thyme and Seasons Herb Company, and solves mysteries that quite often have an herbal theme.

Book of Days is a fitting companion to the series as Albert delves deeper into the world of herbs and how they are used. The daily entries include information on how to grow and use herbs, recipes, crafts, folk lore, and further resouces for those who desire more knowledge.

As detailed as Book of Days is, it is also an easy read for newcomers to the world of herbs. It is a pleasure to open this wonderful book each day and find out what treat Albert has provided.

This is the first book I've read by Susan Wittig Albert.I chose it because I get her newsletters but have now read one mystery Bleeding Hearts.I chose it for my interest in gardening, especially with herbs and I like herb lore.I like the sympathetic characters, the town and the pace and style. It is an informative book as well as relaxing and comforting for quiet times, indoors,on holiday,in winter or in the garden.
