Published by Stratfor Reports, this book is a "must read" for anyone interested in modern China. The book is written as a series of essays, so, once in a while, the information can get a little repetitive. However, if you want your information succinct and unbiased, anything written by the staff at Stratfor Reports will be extremely illuminating.

This book is a collection on various topics related to China and its current and future place on the global stage. Once you read it, you will understand that there are huge systemic issues that this country must overcome. It helps give one a perspective on how the US and China will act with each other over the next 20-50 years. Thoughtfully done but easy to read as it is a series of articles.

Stratfor's book China: Power and Perils has some interesting sections, but basically it is just a reprinting of Stratfor's analysis from their website. In my opinion some of the sections are dated and there is a lot of redundancy in the book. The basic analysis put forth in this book about China's geopolitical situation is useful in helping to understand world events.

China is a complex subject. The series of essays in this book attempts to delve into the reasons behind the behavior of China to where it can be determined that China is all front and no back. In reality the Chinese envy America and wish that they could be like us. This book supports that case
