Drink in the Scent of China Roses,
By Amaranth "music fan" (Northern California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: China Roses (MP3 Download)
Enya's "China Roses" is a beautiful ballad about enjoying the moment. It is bittersweet, like a heady blend of Chinese spices. There is the contentment of "I know that if I have heaven, there is nothing to desire/Rain&river,a world of wonder may be paradise to me." Enya sings of the Arabian Nights&the song itself deftly fuses Western New Age with Eastern spice."China Roses" is a romantic love song. One can imagine the song accompanying the Japanese cherry blossom festival,a celebration of romance&the temporal. It would be fitting music for the Empress (Joan Chen)&the tutor Reginald Johnston (Peter O'Toole),if they ever got a passionate love scene in "The Last Emperor." Enya's "China Roses" is a dim sum feast for the senses&the imagination! |
