Book Description

0415241014 978-0415241014 November 30, 2000 1
This volume provides a detailed up-to-date analysis of the strategic issues and policy options of China's accession to the WTO. Quantitative analysis demonstrates how tariff reduction resulting from China's accession to the WTO will benefit the Chinese economy as well as the rest of the world. The book argues that there is no single trade policy initiative likely to result in larger gains in international trade in the foreseeable future than China's accession to the WTO.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stale, and uninformed by real interaction with policymaking, May 3, 2001

This review is from: China's Entry into the World Trade Organisation (Routledge Studies in the Growth Economies of Asia) (Hardcover)
Why bother writing a book that is just an outside observer's take on the issues. If this book showed any real authority it would be worthwhile, but it completely lacks any sign that the author is actually making policy, rather he is simply observing and harping on what the real policymakers are doing. He should have made it more clear that he had no real influence or involvement in policy. I felt the book was misleading.
