Jane Evans has been teaching Chinese brush painting for many years and regularly runs courses and workshops which are always popular with students. She has written two other books for HarperCollins -- Chinese Brush Painting and Landscape Painting with a Chinese Brush (both OP) -- and has also made a teaching video.

Bought this book a few weeks ago and love it.The author uses illustrations and technique tips to enhance learning. The technique tips were very helpful and this book is an invaluable tool for anyone who would like to try their hand at brush painting. A bonus was information on supplies, including best bets for beginners.

Jane Evans, author, in this particular book gives you everything you need to know to get started. From her portrait, copies of some of her originals, the art of Chinese Brush, the materials you need to get started, basic techniques. She goes into the topic of 'washes' and applying them; flowers, plants, birds, fish and aquatic creatures, animals, people, landscapes - trees, ground covers, waterfalls, mountains & hills, bridges, boats. Jane leaves nothing out! Last and not least she tells you how to mount your art.
