About the Author

Lucy Wang was born in Taiwan and graduated from the National Taiwan College of Arts in Taipei, Taiwan, where she studied with several master artists. In 1993, an invitation from the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon, Georgia, brought Lucy to the United States, and she continues to exhibit in both Taiwan and the United States. She has taught Chinese brush painting for more than 20 years and is a popular demonstrator for art groups and a frequent juror for exhibitions. Lucy’s work has been published on magazine covers, and her television program “The Magic of Chinese Brush Painting” is broadcast on several San Diego cable television stations. Her paintings were selected for use by Blue Mountain Note Cards, published by the Audubon Society and UNICEF, and made into cross-stitch patterns by Candamar Designs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Book, Easy to Read and Learn From, July 20, 2007
This review is from: The Art of Chinese Brush Painting (Artist's Library Series) (Paperback)
I love this book and I have several books on Chinese brush painting. (I'd not part with any of them.) What I like is that she gives you a sense of porportion and she teaches you how to not just draw the figures but how to add to the subject and balance the picture. Chinese painting is about simplicity and doing it has taught me how to do more with my other works. This is a bit pedantic for intermediate artists but everyone can learn from it.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a delightful book, April 30, 2007
This review is from: The Art of Chinese Brush Painting (Artist's Library Series) (Paperback)
I painted some of the pictures as she directed, and I wasn't exactly skilled as she and yet the results were so charming people like them enough to hang them on the wall. She teaches technique, and its wonderful. :>

4.0 out of 5 stars didn't realize it was a 'walter foster' book, very basic, but good, October 1, 2009

the title for the review pretty much says it all.

had i realized the length of the book and who published it I might not have purchased it. Walter Foster books are really very basic, basic, basic. this does not mean they are not good books. I just prefer lengthier explanations for some things, especially Chinese brush strokes.

The sellers were very good and sent the book in a timely manner
