Chinese Ceramics: Highlights of the Sir Percival David Collection by Regina Krahl and Jessica Harrison-Hall Sir Percival David made one of the finest collections of Chinese ceramics outside Asia. It includes many items of imperial quality, with beautiful examples of extremely rare Ru and guan wares as well as the famous David vases. Their inscriptions date to 1351, making them an internationally acknowledged yardstick for the dating of Chinese blue and white porcelain. Here are 50 selected highlights, all illustrated with colour photographs taken especially for this publication. The accompanying text provides details and draws out the important features of each piece. The range and scope of the collection provide the material for a stunning overview and accessible introduction to Chinese ceramic art.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Overview, September 10, 2010

This review is from: Chinese Ceramics: Highlights of the Sir Percival David Collection (Paperback)
This book published by the British Museum is a beautifully photographed, though brief, overview of this very important Chinese ceramic collection. The selection of material presented emphasizes the depth and importance of the collection of the Sir Percival David Collection that is now housed in the British Museum. One can only hope that a complete catalogue of this collection will be published in the near future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highlights of the Sir Percival David Collection, October 1, 2010

This review is from: Chinese Ceramics: Highlights of the Sir Percival David Collection (Paperback)
A light reading on what makes Sir Percival David the most famous and successful Chinese antique porcelain collector of our time. The quality of his collection is just incredible! Although this is a small catalog type of book, the quality of the pictures are among the best you can find for Chinese antique porcelains - the colors reflect the pieces very faithfully. You can really appreciate the beauty of these wonderful porcelain pieces through this book. I just wish the pictures can be bigger. However, I guess that won't be a light book any more.
