This review is from: Chinese Erotic Poems (Everyman's Library Pocket Poets) (Hardcover)
This is a collection of poetry that relates how the Chinese have viewed relationships over the ages. Despite the title which leads one to think this might be erotic as is commonly viewed in our era, the eroticism comes from the emotions and situations related from trysts and frustrations of the past. This wonderful book reminds us that humans are wonderful, loving people no matter what their ethnic origin or place in time. You will enjoy reading the frustrations of wives whose husbands drink, men suffering unrequited love, and lovers in secret relationships. The poems offer dates and some history of the authors which brings even more humanity into this text.
