This GREAT BOOK is must for people interested in California, American and Asian/American history . Sandy Lydon has done extensive research on the Chinese in the Monterey Bay area in the late 1800's. This book documents a very important era in Chinese American history. Truly enlightening, interesting and informative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the Best, January 3, 2009
This review is from: Chinese Gold: The Chinese in the Monterey Bay Region (Hardcover)
Despite the profound ignorance of dim bulbs like the not so wizened guy, this is indeed a fine work of scholarship. Sandy Lydon, "the History Dude" is a master historian and any one of his books from Capitola Press has contributed more to America's documented heritage than most of us ever might hope to do in a book. So all you insomniacs out there who want to be rewarded by learning some fascinating California history, pick up a copy of Chinese Gold or any of Sandy's fine books like The Japanese in the Monterey Bay Region: A Brief History. For the numb skulls who prefer sleeping their lives away, please don't read any of his books and you can be even more ignorant than you already are.
