When I go traveling I must bring it to play with my friends!

All directions included in the deck are in Chinese, so you need to know how to play or get directions to play from some other source.

Had I known there were no instructions, I would not have purchased these cards.

I bought these and I'm not sure they are worth the original 9.99 I paid plus shipping. Shortly after I received them, I saw the exact same deck on a mahjong website stating the webmaster can buy them for $1-2 at Chinatown in LA. The second time I gently put them back in their case, the case split all the way down the side. If you aren't near a Chinatown and are going to keep them in a different case, then you would probably be happy with them. All directions included in the deck are in Chinese, so you need to know how to play or get directions to play from some other source.

I bought these for $2-3 to take with me cross country to teach family how to play mahjong, since bringing a full set of tiles would have taken a lot of space and weight. Overall I'm pretty happy with them, and they got the job done.

Pros:

-Lightweight and portable

-Cards are narrow, which makes it easier to hold 13 cards in your hand.

-Cards are stiff and well laminated. They felt solid when playing and showed no wear after 2 full 4-player rounds (though with enough play, I expect them to soften/wear out like other playing cards).

-Easy to set up/put away; we just shuffled and dealt cards, and left a pile in the middle for drawing rather than taking time to set up walls.

-Could write arabic numbers and wind directions on the cards in sharpie (since people didn't know how to read Chinese). Side benefit was that people could learn some Chinese characters;)

Cons:
-The narrow format and stiffness, while nice for holding a hand, makes it hard to shuffle with a normal bridge shuffle, and tall piles can fall over more easily than other playing cards; recommend shuffling by mixing everything in the middle like you would with real mahjong tiles, and stacking into a couple piles for drawing.

Things to know:
-No instructions - only cards are included, so you definitely need to know how to play mahjong outside of this deck.

-As another reviewer noted, the box IS flimsy. However, I think it may actually be designed to come apart fully to make it easier to put the large deck back in and fold up around it. It was actually helpful for me for putting things away. If you prefer a solid box that stays a box, tape around the edges for this or find another box.

Have not used it yet, marked it with a marker in English to make teaching the game more easier to explain

the red package of the cards gave up immediately, as the glue does not work at all. it's merely like a wrap, not a package.
and the cards are too long (over two times larger) in comparison to the width so it's so prone to breaking.

Cheapest card ever seen. Will probably break after a few playing. You'll be better off buying something a bit more expensive
