The more than two hundred sets of matchbox covers selected here come from the collection of Ji Zhiguang, a famous Chinese collector of thousands of matchbox covers. Although most of the covers concern the People's Republic of China, they also include some rare examples made before the founding of New China. Depicted on the covers we find ancient and modem Chinese figures, China's mountains, rivers, flowers, birds, animals, literature and art works, and sports. This album therefore presents an overview of important information about China and serves as a reference for collectors of Chinese matchbox covers at home and abroad. Color Illustrations.
