Product Description
Chinese Nutrition Therapy shows how a daily diet in tune with the seasons and the body’s requirements can maintain health and help heal medical problems; from the common cold and flu to cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, OB-GYN, skin, immune system, respiratory and eye disorders, just to name a few.

Key features: - Part I introduces the principles of traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese dietetics, outlines the causes of diseases, and introduces the energetics of foods - Part II and Part III describe Chinese dietetics in practice and introduce important dietary factors such as times of day, seasonal adaptations, pathogenic factors, as well as the different dietary requirements of children and seniors - Part IV gives practical tips for successful implementation of Chinese nutrition therapy, and provides food classifications for the most common food categories: vegetables, grains, spices and herbs, fruit, meat, fish/seafood, dairy products, eggs, oils and fats, nuts and seeds and other foods - Part V lists many clinical examples and treatment suggestions - Part VI, as a handy reference, lists the healing characteristics of foods from A - Z

Chinese Nutrition Therapy is a "must read" for physicians, TCM practitioners, nutrition therapists, and all others concerned with healing and staying healthy. Written by an M.D. and long-time practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it bridges Western allopathic medicine and Chinese syndrome diagnosis.

5.0 out of 5 stars substantial effort, March 8, 2005
If you are a practitioner of TCM looking for a text that is theoretically sound and clinically relevant, look no further. Its modern layout, use of currently accepted terminology and comprehensiveness make this book a great leap forward for education and practice in TCM Nutrition.

5.0 out of 5 stars The ONLY Authoritative Chinese Nutrition Resource I have been able to find!, December 18, 2005
By Wong Fei Hong (Colorado, USA) - See all my reviews
This book is THE BEST book on chinese nutrition I have ever been able to find! The author is a Licensed Acupuncurist and a Medical Doctor from Germany and extremely detailed, thorough, and organized. There are chapters explaining Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory, General Nutrition, Common Disease Patterns and Food Treatment, Individual Food Therapeutics, Case Studies, Food Tables by Energetics, and Food Tables by Name. I'm in love with this book! It is easy to use, and very practical! A must have for your library if you like nutrition, chinese medicine, or just want to treat health problems naturally with food! Try it out! You won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Helpful Reference, September 17, 2005
Our family has recently seen a Chinese nutritionist to help my son's acne and my daughter's digestive problems. This philosophy of eating is in juxtaposition to the typical American diet we have consumed all our lives, so this book was helpful in clarifying instructions from our nutritionist. The philosophy of Chinese medicine is well explained, even for a newcomer like me. It explains what foods are acceptable, in what combination, with what health problems. It was interesting to learn how climate changes affect the foods you should be eating. Much of the book is actually written for the use of a nutritionist, with notes on which herbs to prescribe. The book is well organized, making it easy to look up certain foods or food types. Overall, I would recommend this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for TCM Practitioners
A great book for practitioners and students of Traditional Chinese Medicine, not for those unfamiliar with the field. Over priced, but still very good.
