5.0 out of 5 stars I can't praise it enough, December 10, 2010

Because of my manly stomach (5'10" 245lbs.) I have always had trouble with my life vest riding up over my stomach and jabbing me in my neck while paddling in the yak. But with this vest that is no longer a problem. It stays where it's suppose too and does not feel bulky. It has straps in all the right places to adjust it to fit you and your body shape. And because it does not feel bulky, you will not feel like you are struggling/fighting to cast. I never knew how comfortable the seat in my yak was because of the lower back padding in all the other vest, but this vest does not have the lower padding so it feels very natural and comfortable sitting in the yak. So if any of you manly men with slightly endowed bellies are looking for a comfortable vest, I would definitely consider the Chinook Fishing Mesh Back PFD by NRS .

This PFD is well made and exactly as advertised. The various pockets and loops are perfect for all the small items I want to have available while kayaking. The two large pockets easily hold small tackle boxes so I have fishing gear for the day right at hand.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent, September 6, 2011

I bought this life vest about 2 months ago, I'm planning on getting a Kayak but in the mean time I have used it for wade fishing, I'm glad I did, as I have manage to save 2 lives..
I was wade fishing in the gulf of mexico, when two girls got dragged away by the undertow..
I rush to save the first one that was close to me, then I procceded to save the second one, but by that time I was out of breath. I finally reached the poor lady, she was already trowing up, when I got there. but I told her to stay calm, I held her with her back laying on my chest till the coast guard came and pulled us out..
Again, I'm very happy with the vest, it was able to keep us both afloat. I also love the pockets and holes at the bottom of them.
I can run my leader wire thru them..
I'm buying one for my son, as soon as I can get some extra cash..
Thanks alot for such of good product...
Sincerely
Rick

I have yet to use this vest, but, I will revue it as far as fit goes anyway, and try to update the first of November, after I use it in Oct.
It fits me better than any other vest I have tried. I have a ... large girth. I weigh 250 and this thing fits me well and stays put. It does NOT ride up like so many others are prone to do. Also, it has several little pockets to keep things in. I will be kayaking and fishing in this vest and I think it will be very comfortable and handy. It has a high back so it will not interfere with the back of the kayak seat. I sat in the kayak and tried to paddle with it on. No problems with the arm openings. It has plenty of side opening so your arms are free to row. It is certified by the Coast Guard, and the other reviewers say that it holds them up well in the water. I am good with that!
Okay. I have officially used this pfd in the Gulf Shores, Alabama area for 3 days in a kayak for about 5-6 hours each day. It was VERY comfortable and I didn't really notice I had it on. The wind kicked up 2 days we were out and I felt really safe with it on. While I didn't officially need to be saved by the vest, several folks have reported it does a good job. We were fishing and the pockets were very handy. Again, I used it paddling a kayak for several hours and I really liked it.Also, I am new to fishing and to kayaking. The vest gave me one less thing to worry about. That means something!
