5.0 out of 5 stars My Boot Search Is Over
I very seldom give five star ratings to anything, but the Rallies have earned it.

Since I started riding about two and half years ago, I've been on a quest for the perfect boot. I owned 8 pairs before the Rallies including some European ones (TCX, BWW, Diadora, Gaerne), Carolina engineer boots, and a few Chinese-made ones (Xelement, Harley brand)...

3.0 out of 5 stars A good look
While these boots are well constructed, durable and easy to put on, they are not very comfortable if you are going to walk around very much. They seem to be pretty waterproof which surprised me and they look as good as the day I bought them but I wish they were more comfortable. Still, a good value and I am glad I bought them.

I very seldom give five star ratings to anything, but the Rallies have earned it.

Since I started riding about two and half years ago, I've been on a quest for the perfect boot. I owned 8 pairs before the Rallies including some European ones (TCX, BWW, Diadora, Gaerne), Carolina engineer boots, and a few Chinese-made ones (Xelement, Harley brand).

The European ones were either summer mesh or "touring" boots with a waterproof lining. I find even good quality waterproof systems hot in the summer. I seldom ride in the rain so it's eay to just put on boot covers when I do. So the first criterion in my quest for the perfect boot was construction of plain, good quality leather.

Then, I was looking for comfort, both for walking and wearing all day (my weekend fun rides are often 10-12 hours). This mean that it was important that they come in half sizes and multiple widths.

Finally, I was concerned with where my boots are manufactured. I prefer American-made, but will consider Italian. China was out.

I finally settled on the Chippewa Rallies. They met all my criteria. They are exquisitely made. They were a bit stiff out of the box, but softened nicely after a day of wear. They are lined leather with a shifter pad. They are tall enough for good protection, but can be worn either under or over pants. They can be easily re-soled. The price wasn't bad (my other option--Aerostich Combat Lites were $100 more). The closure system makes them easier to get on and off than engineer boots. They look good with a simple styling that isn't garish like many European boots. And they just feel good. I put in more than 500 miles on them in the past three days, and wasn't dying to rip them off at the end of the rides.

My only concern is with the velco closure, particularly the two straps. In online fora people have mentioned having to have this replaced but they said it was cheap at a local shoe repair store.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Motorcycle Boots, December 1, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Chippewa Rally boot is by far the best I have ever owned. Construction is superb, the soft leather lining is comfortable, and the velcro closures leave plenty of room for adjustment. I was reluctant to order on line as I have a wide foot and find that I usually return shoes and boots because they don't fit properly. I measured according to the size chart and the fit is perfect. Prior to ordering, I called three dealers and found that none stocked my size and all quoted full retail price. Amazon's price was more than competitive and delivery service was good. The five star rating I have given this product is appropriate.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Motorcycle Boot Period., September 30, 2009

Five yrs. now & they look better now-then-new. These USA made boots are so comfortable I can cut my grass in them. The leather is thick yet soft as buttah. The padded, ultra smooth, soft glove leather lining is to die for. These battle ready boots are a breeze to get in and out thanks to the velcro flap and straps. Great long lasting leather/rubber heel, sole, and shifter padding on the toes. Nice, light feel on my Harley's foot controls. They take a great polish too. Best bike boots out there PERIOD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Motorcycle Boots, January 17, 2011

One tough boot to break in but now that is complete, they should last a very long time. The boot is very well constructed and there is much adjustment in the fit due to the velcro straps (especially if you're use to lace ups). You just have to hang in there through the break-in period. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Boot sizing is right on the money. Good support, great construction and top quality. The light colored trim on the heel was easy to rough up and put some black dye on to give it a more mono look.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you are not sure try them, January 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have been wearing a different brand of boot for over 30 years and for me to change was big, I was not disappointed in making the change at all. The boots have there breakin time but fit very comfortable and are easy to put on and easy to take off after a long ride. I have received more complements on these boots in the last few week then I have on any other boot ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars World Class Boot, October 27, 2011
To start with these boots are made in the USA which was a driving force for purchase. Without going into great detail, they're true to size and very comfortable.

A very sexy and very functional boot that I'm sure will give me many years of service. I use them primarily for motorcycle riding, but would not be apprehensive to wear them for dress, casual wear, or work.

Very easy to get on and off with the split sides and velcro closures, and easy to snug up or leave loose fitting which is how I prefer them usually for riding.

I have high arches so I purchased the 12E and they fit very well. They don't look wide, but there's good room in the toe box.

Normally I can wear 12D but I thought since I'd be wearing these to ride I'd be happier with a little more width in the toe. It turned out to be a good decision.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chippewa rally boot, December 11, 2011
I bought this boot to ride my Harley. I got them about a week ago. I think they are a great american made boot. The leather is the best of quality and I will for sure buy another pair. They are one of the most comfortable boots I have worn. If you are looking for a boot besides an engineer boot to ride, the rally boot will not let you down. So far I have to say that I like Chippewa better then red wing.
