    Great looking boot.

Boots felt at least a half-size too large and the steel toe on the right boot not aligned properly on the sole and therefore dug into the ball of the foot.

These boots are giving me the good feeling of having invested my money for a real quality product, something you get real value for what you paid.

When I opened the parcel and saw the boots the first time, I was just thinking 'wow', what great looking boots. And then holding them in my hands, feeling this soft and well made thick leather. Turning then the boots around, looking at the stitching, the sole ... fine pieces of handmade manufactured quality ... and then the scent of this fine leather ... aaaah! :-)
And of course the most important. Was putting the boots on and they're fitting like gloves and feel unbelievable comfortable. These boots are giving me the good feeling of having invested my money for a real quality product, something you get real value for what you paid.
Awesome boots, I love 'em. Chippewa rocks!

Although I returned these boots due to fact they were steel cap and this was not stated on the page where I ordered I still wanted to rate them. I have since purchased a standard toe in the same Boot. Definitely order half a size down as these boots (steel or standard) are a generous fit, I went by measurements on the Chippewa site and would still go down half. They need an inner sole in them to make them comfortable as there really is no lining in the boot but once it's in they are great. Good quality leather should last for years and they look great.

These Chippewa Engineer boots are very well made, excellent quality with a Vibram sole and still made in the U.S.A. After having owned plenty of different motorcycle boots over the years, these are the best by far! The heavy black oiled leather is waterproof and I find they are perfect for short rides or long road trips on the bike and comfortable enough for walking any reasonable distance. They make them in most sizes so make sure of your fit first and if you want either steel toe or not. A great wearing and classic looking boot that has been around for a long time and once you've owned a pair you'll realise why.

So, I have a pair of the laced engineer boots as well, and thought these would make an excellent additional pair, largely as a motorcycle boot. The exterior quality of the boot is amazing -- I can't take anything away from Chippewa from making a durable, well constructed product.

The issue lies in comfort. The boot is tight in some areas, and loose in others. I found it difficult to believe there would've been such a difference between the laced version versus the pull-on, but, man. . . Night and day.

First off, I'd highly recommend getting some insoles. They'll make wearing these a lot more tolerable. Secondly, plan on wearing thick and long socks. I've found the stiched in label has a tendency to chafe otherwise.

These boots make absolutely wonderful riders, but not so great for walking around in. Once you get to your destination, you may find wanting to switch out to something that's a little more forgiving for walking.

I'm really hoping that over time, these will break in to become more comfortable.

On whole, I've become a Chippewa convert, but that's really based on the lace-up engineer boots I use for outdoor work. And, like I said, you can't take away anything from the quality exterior work on this boot. It's a serious boot and I'm sure they'll last many years.

I must first say I was quite anxious about the quality and origin of the boots after reading some of the reviews here.. But I chose to make an order knowing Amazon was the central seller and they gave me warranty through mail after checking their stocks, these were real Chippewa 27863 black odessa leather, made in the USA.
I must say people at Amazon were really professional, concerned and customer oriented; they have taken necessary actions to check conformity of the product prior to sending.
I had made the order May,13 and although chose to go on the 'economy shipment' option, I have received the boots today May, 22 (estimates were between May,26 and June,14) !
Opening the package shows Chippewa original box, with label 'handcrafted in the USA', and inside certificate from Chippewa and.. The boots are awesome, real nice thick quality leather and all as described and pictured here and at Chippewa site. Inside the boots, stitched label reads 'hancrafted in the USA'. Size is exact match, knowing I took an extra 1/2 inch for insoles (which are not provided with the boots, that come in plain cut inside). I wear size 43 (FR) and took 10E (US).
I am absolutely satisfied with these boots that are as I expected from Chippewa. Now, knowing my former were from Calamex and I have been wearing those for 15 years motorcycling, I just have to see if these stand the test of time.

Had a pair of another brand but they were no where near the quality of these. Fit is true to size.

They run tight in the ankle/calf, but not unwearably so.
I had to put a pair of Dr. Scholl's inserts in them because the factory insoles were very flat and didn't have any kind of support, but now that I've done that they're really great and I will definitely be wearing them to work and through the winter.

The Chippewa steel toe boot is a halfway decent attempt at the classic MC, but for me its a fail. While I was unpacking them they seemed like they might be good. The leather seemed nice and all seemed well, but when I started inspecting them and began taking a closer look, everything began to unravel. The changes in these boots from the ones I wore in the 80's and 90's go a lot further than just the loss of the bold brass square buckle that used to be such a dominant aspect of the boot. The first thing I noticed wrong was the area under the Buckle strap. It seemed pinched in with dimples. I suspect its from cutting the leather shorter to save on costs. I thought that defect might be something that could possibly break in and stretch out, but it didn't end there. The soles were a bit too stiff and plastic-like and not as flexible as the rubbery ones from the past. The ultimate problem came when I tried them on and had found the leather around my calf to be too tight. I tried loosening the buckle, but even with it wide open it was still too tight. The fact that it didn't fit around my leg dealt a death blow to the boots... that was a fatal defect I couldn't overlook or get around...so I returned them. If you are a lady or a slim man, then give them a try. If you're a bigger guy forget it. Its time for me to try the Frye brand.
