I loved these boots., October 5, 2009
I owned a pair of these for three years with no complaints. These things took a beating and never broke down, you can be working in the rain, mud, snow, sleet what ever and your, feet will stay dry and warm the ENTIRE day, it even keeps them relatively cool during the summer. The soles have great traction, even in the snow which is tough for most work boots as the snow gets packed into the treads and ices up. Don't get me wrong you have to kick them clean every now and then but compared to others their pretty stable in snow. There was one issue I had with the boot which was a plastic piece behind the heal, it had worn through the fabric. The piece dug into the back of my heal and made it pretty painful to wear, even with the heavy boot sock. I tried to repair it but every time it would only temporarily hold up. The plastic piece was in there pretty tight and I feared yanking it out and ruining the boot. I still have them and plan on someday taking them to be repaired. The boot is expensive, I used it in a very rough environment and got 3 solid years out it. I averaged about a pair a year before I bought the Logger. I wore Timberline, Herman Survivor's and Tom Mccain, (which was the most comfortable boot I ever wore), None of these could't hold up to the environment I worked for more than 10 to 12 months. Even with applying bee's wax once a month, all of these boots leaked within 2 to 3 hours working in wet conditions, my loggers NEVER leaked. If you have the money go with Chippewa, the costs averages itself out in the long run. If you don't beat on them and work in harsh environments the things will last forever. If you do work in rough environments you will definitely appreciate these boots right off the bat. You get what you pay for, and these are definitely worth their price.

Not the best, November 12, 2010
I'm not overly thrilled with these boots. I've had them for about 1 year now (within a few days give or take) and they just have not held up as well as I was hoping. I went out of my way to buy these boots because they are made in America, but sadly, that didn't ensure any high grade of quality. I'm sure some people think that a year with the same footwear is great, but I'm used to getting at least 2 years out of my premium boots (boots over 200 dollars), and I used to really use my boots. A little background, I used to be in surveying. Which means that I'd be spending 8+ hour days walking through the woods, on asphalt, through gravel pits, swamps, etc. I've walked miles and miles on my boots through all sorts of terrine. I've kicked holes nearly a foot down looking for survey markers when a shovel wasn't handy. My past boots have been abused and beaten. Still, I'm used to getting very close, if not more than, 2 years out of my boots. By comparison, these boots have seen a life of luxury. Before I purchased these boots I had begun an apprenticeship at a machine shop. 90% of these boots life have been in an enclosed environment. They have seen a little outside work with maybe a total of 10 days doing a little tree cutting, but nothing to the degree of boots past. I thought this would have ensured at least 2 years, but then here we are. Since I got the boots I have cut through at least 6 pairs of boot laces. There must be some defect with one of the eyelets the slowly cuts through them, but that's not the level of quality I'd expect from boots over 200 dollars. Maybe 4-5 months into having the boots the inner liner began to follow my foot out when I'd take them off. Nothing too exciting, but I'd never had this problem before either. The inner liner has also shown a weakness by being worn away at the back of my heels. This is very annoying because it feels like there is something in the boot. It goes so far as to create a sore spot on my heel. Now when I feel the interior of the boot, I can feel the outer leather. There is no more inner liner in the back of my boots. I have had other boots where the leather wears away before the liner, this has not impressed me. Beyond that, the stitching has begun to come undone from the outer seems. This has created a hole large enough for me to stick my index finger through. Over all, had these boots seen the life of my previous boots, I'd probably be fine with their current condition. But, being as sheltered as they have been, I really can't imagine how they would have held up if they were actually used for their described purpose ("super logger"). All that being said, they are comfortable boots and if your looking to through money away on a pretty boot that will see a lot of time in the office or under a desk. These will probably be great. But, if your planning on using your boots for real physical work, spend about 100 dollars less and get yourself boots that will hold up just as well. Maybe it was the "Made in America" thing, but I was really expecting a lot more out of these boots.

ultimate work boot, December 30, 2009
Have 3 pairs of these boots ( MADE IN USA ) purchased outside of amazon . The reason i have three pairs?? When you recive the boots they come with a card to have them rebuilt . Everything is rebuilt on the boot for 80 $( i think ). YOu have a broken in boot with new laces , uppers , iners , sole , laces . and they re water proof them . Theese boots have take a beating I work for the rail road we can be outside in all weather from - 10 to 105 i wear these year round. At work I use them for digging in balast ( wich sucks ) and snow removal i have had many boots while working for the railroad Ive hade redwings ( the heelpopped off in 2 weeks while shoveling balast ) timberland pro ( after 6 months the steel toe came through the inside and cut my toe and regula chippeawa ( wich held up pretty good considering made in china but after abouta year it lost its waterproof and laces broke ) If you buy these boots and are comfortable with the high heel ( takes some getting used to but i feel it sraighten out my back) and the high sides ( i think they are 8" loggers ) you will not want another boot . Do not buy the made in china ones first allthough they held up pretty good they are no where near as comfortable. Buy MADE IN USA chippeawa original .
