Thank you for your feedback.
I have had the Artic 50's for over a week, so far, and have found them to be an excellent answer to my needs.
I can say that they are the best pair of boots I think I have ever had, my feet are warm, dry and comfortable.
Both shoes are very consistent and fit like gloves.

Please first see my review for the Chippewa 29416 boot to get a feel for how great I think these boots are. For most people, the 29416 is all the boot they'll ever need. But I deliver heating oil during the winter and when it snows and the roads are salted pools of icy slush water build up along the road curbs, which is where I must stand to work with my truck. In these instances the 29416s are not completely waterproof, and the little bit of water that leaks in negates all the insulation and my feet freeze. Bad.

So after all of these years I said: Not this winter. I first tried to order the LL Bean "Duck" boots that they've been making for about a 100 years. But I did so with trepidation because I worried the rubber sole would not have the support I need and receive in a regular work boot. I worried that while probably perfectly adequate for hiking or trudging around, maybe not so much for actual 40 hour weeks of work. But I never got the chance. Turns out those boots have become all the rage this year with college kids and they were back-ordered until spring.

So a little further research brought me to the Artic 50s (model 25492).

When you first open the box you'll behold these boots with amazement. The craftsmanship, the leather, the stitching, the heft, the design. The real lamb shearling lining. Removable woolen sole inserts. The composite sole, complete with duck bill toe for attachment to ski bindings. You'll know immediately that these boots were not made in China, or Burma or any other such place. And then your next thought will be what a shame it would be to wear them! There isn't a finer work boot made anywhere and when you hold perfection, the temptation is to put them on display, rather than on your feet.

But on my feet they went.

I live in northern Canada. I've gone through several pairs of winter boots in my lifetime. These Chippewa Arctic 50's are by far the highest quality, nicest looking and among the warmest boots I've owned. I did have to send my first pair back and exchange them for a half size bigger and "extra wide". I found they fit slightly small and quite narrow. The other pair arrived fitting perfectly. I believe that if I put leather treatment on these boots, they will outlast me. Outstanding!

These are simply the best production boots made today. Custom Whites or Wescos might be a little better in the long run, but for the money these cant be beat. I took out the insole and put in my own (boots came a little tight) and havent looked back. I'd take these over three pairs of sorrels or danners (cough* China). Havent had cold feet once since I bought them. Protip: Leave them next to a fire for 20 min before you put them on in the morning, they will be warm all day

I run a forest management consulting service and so am in the woods most days. I purchased the Arctic 50's to wear during the winter while snowshoeing for my work. My problem has been that snowshoe bindings wear out the rubber bottoms of shoe-pacs quickly, and I needed a warmer boot for sub-zero temp days. I have had the Artic 50's for over a week, so far, and have found them to be an excellent answer to my needs. They give great control and ankle support while snowshoeing and are very warm as well. The sizing chart provided by Amazon was right on for determining the size to order, be sure to order a bit larger size because the shearling lining does take up considerable space inside the boots. If you combine these boots with gaiters you can expect to be out all day without snow going into your boots or pant legs. The only problem that I have found with the boots, so far, was that the shoe laces supplied with the boots were actually a bit too short, a problem that I solved by installing new leather laces. I will also be interested to see how durable the wool shearling lining is, given the frequent use that I will be giving the boots. Another tip for these boots is to treat them right away with Sno-seal, doing that seems to be helpful for minimizing wear from the snowshoe bindings on the boot leather.

I choose these boots based on the positive ratings. I was willing to pay $194 for a good pair of boots for my husband in hopes that they would last longer than the normal boots we would purchase. Although he was initially happy with the look and feel of these boots, after only one month of wear the seam on the inner side of the right boot is already coming apart. Obviously this is a defect. After notifying Chippewa directly, they suggested notifying Amazon to see what they have to say. Obviously they are not very concerned with the quality of their products. Amazon on the other hand was awesome to work with. They responded that they will do what they can to make this right. Thanks Amazon!

I work construction in Connecticut and need a warm comfortable boot. This boot is great in 0 degrees, in the snow and walking on ice. I think it will last a long time due to the quality and thickness of the leather. The boots fit well right out of the box. I'm not pulling the laces tight yet to give the leather time to break in a little. These boots are not as bulky as the Sorel boots I have for really cold weather.
