This is a loving story about a young army volunteer who, when he joins, he get also thrown into the K-9 dog program. Worse, he's scared of dogs AND he's been assigned to take care of a German Shepherd! They work together, and finally the training pays off when they are off to the REAL WAR!! Discover the growing friendship and bond between these two and see that if, with the right training, your dog can be a star!

I absolutly love this movie, and it is too bad that it is currently not avalible. I love the idea of how dog and boy, misfits apart, but together they are heroes. I always cry watching this movie. I really hope that they re-release it so I can enjoy it again and so can my family and friends.

Several years ago we taped this on VHS when it aired on the Disney Channel. The tape was watched so many times, it had to be thrown away a long time ago! This was one of my brothers and I's favorites, and now that my children are entering their school-age years, I'd love for them to see this. However, we definitely would like this on DVD--so it lasts for generations to come!

This is a classic dog lover's movie that you'll want to see again and again--and even pass down to the next generation. Our copy is wearing out from use! For a great companion read to this movie for both kids and adults order "Chips a Hometown Hero" Chips: A Hometown Hero about the real Chips in WW II.

I watched this movie when it first came out on the Disney Channel, 15 years ago. Being in first grade the movie was excellent. It had all sorts of big dogs and some small ones. I watched it almost every day, especially when I was sick and stayed home from school. My friends and I would always pretend we were in the movie and play war games.

It's a great kids movie and maybe has one cuss word throughout the movie. It's NOT a war movie. If you love Dogs you'll enjoy this movie. The war scenes aren't bloody and ghory either, so it's very child friendly.

So, I'm twenty three and excited that I've finally found this movie on DVD.

I agree with other reviewers--Please make this movie available on DVD! Can Amazon offer it on DVD-R as they have some other movies that were not previously released on DVD? This is such a great story! There are some movies that you enjoy seeing, but once is enough. Not so with Chips! When my kids were young, it was one of our go-to family movies especially when friends joined us for movie night. Now that my kids are adults, they still enjoy watching it when they're home for holidays--and they've enjoyed introducing it to their own families. Our VHS copy is getting worn (as is the VHS player we're holding on to for movies like this).
