5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond back pain. True health and wellness care
Chiropractors over the years have been limited to back pain "treatment" doctors (if doctors at all) Perhaps just another therapy procedure for back pain. Our bodies are broken and they need fixing. This is a mechanistic viewpoint embraced by our current health paradigm. We get sick, we look outside the body for drugs, medicines, herbs or something to change...

1.0 out of 5 stars Has no substance
I am a chiropractor. Chiropractic First has no substance what so ever. Sure, I like to get the word out on chiropractic, but not at the expense of simplistic and dangerous bits of disjointed information that lumps the disease theory into a simple subluxation. If you must read it, get a free copy somewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond back pain. True health and wellness care, December 2, 1998

Chiropractors over the years have been limited to back pain "treatment" doctors (if doctors at all) Perhaps just another therapy procedure for back pain. Our bodies are broken and they need fixing. This is a mechanistic viewpoint embraced by our current health paradigm. We get sick, we look outside the body for drugs, medicines, herbs or something to change what is going on inside our bodies in hopes to overcome are bodies natural defenses of healing. Some Chiropractors also embrace this paradigm because it is widely accepted. This current paradigm is Crisis Care and cannot be called Health Care because this care does not make you healthy. The true paradigm of chiropractic is exactly opposite this. The body is Vitalistic and nature needs no help, just no interfence. Healing does not come from the outside in but begins from healing inside outward. Finding the cause of all the illnesses will always lead you back to the nerve system. The benefits of chiropractic care only begins will drug free pain relief. There are three truths to health and healing. 1) The body is a self healing self regulating organism, ie. if you cut your finger it will heal without the help of a bandaid, therefore "life force" or innate intelligence of the body heals. If you cut a cadavers finger (a dead person) the cut in the finger will not heal. 2) The master system of the body that controls and coordinates all function in the body is the nerve system (GRAYS ANATOMY), 3) If there is disruption, distress or interference within the nerve system the body will not be able to heal itself at 100%. Doctors of Chiropractic are the only doctor trained specifically to locate and correct interference (termed Vertebral Subluxation Complex) in the spinal column where the nerve system begins, and removes the nerve interferences with series of "adjustments" so the body can better heal it self at near 100%. The effects of "adjustments" to the nerve systems addresses full spectrum of disorders and diseases. Chiropractors DO NOT claim to cure any disease or disorder, but assists in reducing nerve interference, allowing the body the full potential to heal on its own. You cannot drug someone into health. Drugs only mask the underlying cause of all disease which always begins with a poorly functioning nerve system. It has stood the test of time, and millions of people for the last 103 years have enjoying optimal health through truely natural health care. Thank you Dr. Rhonberg for teaching us about where health comes from.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books on chiropractic philosophy, April 10, 2004

This review is from: Chiropractic First: The Fastest Growing Healthcare Choice...Before Drugs or Surgery (Paperback)
This book is excellent because it tells why adjustments are given--to correct subluxations. It talks about innate and so forth. However, sometimes it's a little scary how some members of the chiro profession worship B.J. and D.D. Palmer. Forms of adjustments have been around for thousands of years from the Romans, Greeks, Chinese. Yes, I know, they were not specific, they did manipulations. Anyway, chiropractic works, it has been working for thousands of years in one form or another. However, it works greater now because now it is specific--targeted to removing nerve interference and correcting the subluxation. I also, highly recommend.

National Board of Chiropactic Part IV Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers
vol 1, isbn: 0974328766
vol 2, isbn: 0974328774
These study guides are awesome for the Part IV exam. The best out there.
Once again Chiropractic First is so important for the chiropractor to be successful in practice. This is because this book gives the reasons why a chiroprator is giving an adjustment, which will make patients realize how important it is to correct a subluxation.

5.0 out of 5 stars For open minded people, September 8, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Chiropractic First: The Fastest Growing Healthcare Choice...Before Drugs or Surgery (Paperback)
If you're locked in the "medical model" of treating sickness and disease, you probably have no interest in chiropractic or any other "alternative" health care system. So, this book won't be for you. But if you are looking for a better way to approach health and wellness and want an easy-to-read introduction to chiropractic, this book is excellent.

If you notice, most of the people who criticized the book hated chiropractic to begin with -- it's not surprising that they rated the book so low. But that's just their prejudice showing.

This book clearly notes that chiropractic isn't a "cure all" == it is merely (merely??) a way for us to allow our bodies to work properly, the way they were meant to work. It's no wonder the medical profession (and its proponents) fear it.

The book is thorough and easy to read, with plenty of real-life cases to prove the points made. A good companion book is "Chiropractic Works."

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting reading, July 11, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Chiropractic First: The Fastest Growing Healthcare Choice...Before Drugs or Surgery (Paperback)
I think this book was an excellent read. It presents one side of the often complex issues facing the health care industry and points to several issues worth exploring. While I would strongly suggest this book to friends, I would not count it, or any other single source for that matter, as the be all and end all on this complex subject.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chiropractic First, January 6, 2000

This review is from: Chiropractic First: The Fastest Growing Healthcare Choice...Before Drugs or Surgery (Paperback)
An excellent book. My Chiropractor gave me this book for Christmas. I quite enjoyed it. It makes a lot of sense and I look forward to better health through my Chiropractic treatments. My only concern is a lack of foot notes and references which I think is not very well explained on page 141. A great book overall!
