4.0 out of 5 stars chiropractors need to make a living too
Highly recommended and scientifically sound. Funny at times too! I'd be wary of negative reviews posted here. Chiropractors probably hate Dr. Long. A good book about controversial "medicine". A worthwile read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wake up people. This book is so outdated. Don't waste your $$$
With all the sound scientific research out there about the benefits of chiropractic, it's hard for me to believe that people still adhere to the 1800's quackery myth. Chiropractic is not a cult, a religion, a scam, etc. It is science at its best. If you read this incredibly biased and incomplete book, please take the time to do some scientific research on the subject...

Chiropractic is not a cult, a religion, a scam, etc. It is science at its best. If you read this incredibly biased and incomplete book, please take the time to do some scientific research on the subject as well. I did not find this book to be a good resource at all. It's quite paranoid and full of holes to say the least.

1.0 out of 5 stars Same old Lies, August 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Naked Chiropractor Insider's Guide to Combating Quackery and Winning the War Against Pain (Hardcover)
This book is filled with the same old lies that have been peddled before. If Chiropractic is so dangerous, why do they have one of the lowest malpractice insurance payments in the health care industry? Seems to me that if people were get harmed or dieing from chiropractic adjustments, Chiropractors would have to have higher insurance payments to cover all that liability. No doubt there are bad chiropractors, just as there are bad physicians, plumbers, teachers, etc. Every field has its losers and scammers. But most of Long's statistics and information seems out-dated, unsubstantiated, and misleading.

This is a complete 180 degree away from the truth. If you want to see who is working for the $ then look no furhter then Preston Long, Ph'D. Not just some of this book is lies but all of it. If you read James Chestnut,DC's book the "14 Premises" then you would have the complete scientific proof behind how chiropractic works and helps the body to improve its health and well-being!

5.0 out of 5 stars Indispensible -- has saved me many doctor visits, October 20, 2005

I know that some doctors hate this book, and it's easy to see why -- the author helps cure back problems and thus reduce the dependence on chiropractors or MDs. DR. LONG'S ADVICE HELPED ME. I used to have backaches several days out of the month, and now months go by. When a problem comes up, I am quick to go back to Dr. Long's book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Naked Chiropractor, December 4, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Naked Chiropractor Insider's Guide to Combating Quackery and Winning the War Against Pain (Hardcover)
I have just finished reading The Naked Chiropractor, and I will never think of the back care industry in the same light again. After years of intermittent back pain I was confused about all of the conflicting information espoused by the self proclaimed experts in the back care industry. This book was a very entertaining and easy-to-read guide on what to look for in treatments, and it provided concrete ideas on how to care for my back. The book also served as an expose on the rampant fraud in the industry, and how to avoid costly mistakes in back care. I only wish I would have read this story years ago, saving [money] on chiropractic care.

5.0 out of 5 stars Knowledge is Power - Take Control, December 3, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Naked Chiropractor Insider's Guide to Combating Quackery and Winning the War Against Pain (Hardcover)
The Naked Chiropractor by Dr. Preston Long is a must read for anyone, which includes the vast majority of us, who currently suffers or will suffer from back pain. This is a no-nonsense book that gives the reader the power to seek and receive the most effective and appropriate treatment for their back pain. I have suffered with back pain for 30 years and I have seen first-hand many of the practices that Dr. Long writes about that are perpetuated within the chiropractic field. Many of these are not based on scientific evidence, are potentially lethal and (I'll be kind) border on fraud.

Protect yourself and your family, read this book before you visit another chiropractor or Alternative Medicine Provider.

Take control of your healthcare and learn about the concept of Evidence-Based Medicine!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book for any one thinking about chiropractic, January 15, 2004
This review is from: The Naked Chiropractor Insider's Guide to Combating Quackery and Winning the War Against Pain (Hardcover)
This is the best book written on Chiropractic, the scams and misleading information that they will feed you. A must read for anyone thinking about choosing this disgraceful "profession" as a career. Don't waste your money on tuition. Most if not all chiropractic colleges will accept anyone with a pulse and a check that won't bounce! If you want an honest evidence based DC then check out the National Association for Chiropratic Medicine.

Read this book and you find out for yourself exactly why you shouldn't visit a "Doctor" of Chiropractic. Try snake oil instead...it will work wonders for you!!1
