About the Author

Konami Kanata (pen name used by Kanata Konami) was born on July 3, 1958, in Nagano, Japan.  A veteran manga artist Konami made her professional debut in 1982 with the serialized comic Petit Cat Jam-Jam for Kodansha's semenal shoujo manga magazine NakaYoshi. The daughter of an elementary school teacher, most of Konami's stories are for readers of all ages making her one of the most accessible artists in recent history.

In her nearly thirty year career, Konami has penned more than a dozen comic series, with the majority of them focusing on cats and pets. Konami is well regarded within the pet-manga community for her keen sense of cat ecology. Her ability to observe and render feline behavior has earned her respect from the Japanese manga community as a whole. While most of her properties were published for a younger female demographic, her most recent series Chi's Sweet Home is currently being published by Kodansha's Morning magazine, Japan's leading comic magazine for adult readers. Proving that quality can be found even in the cutest of sources.

Chi's Sweet Home will be Konami's first translated work.

Every cat owner will be charmed.

As with the previous books, this one's very funny and utterly adorable, with dead-on depictions of cats' reactions.

I've become hooked on this sweet series about a kitten's life. In this volume, Chi and her family move to a new home, and poor Chi has to cope with the dismantling of her old life and a completely new set of surroundings. On the other hand, she also gets lots and lots of boxes to play in!

As with the previous books, this one's very funny and utterly adorable, with dead-on depictions of cats' reactions. Recommended!

My whole family is really continuing to enjoy this series. It is cute, funny, and just wonderfully entertaining for people who love cats.

In this volume Chi and family are finally in a new apartment where pets are welcome. This leads to a lot of surprise, stress, and hilarity for Chi. Including an introduction to stairs, birds, and dogs.

My whole family again loved this volume. We were all laughing out loud a ton as we read this. My seven year old son begged to read this every night. I keep saying the same thing about every book in this series: cute, hilarious, great for cat lovers...and I will repeat that for this book.

This is a pivotal book in the series because the Yamada family has finally committed fully to having Chi as a part of their family.

This whole series is highly recommended for cat lovers; it's hilarious, adorable, and so easy for cat owners to relate to! I love the illustrations too, they convey emotion well and really tell a great story. The Yamada family is a great family to read about.

Chi reminds our whole family a lot of a kitten we recently got, we named her Cheza and she looks almost exactly like Chi...she acts like her too.

Overall a fantastic read. Super cute, hilarious, and wonderfully funny for cat owners. Highly recommended for cat lovers of all ages.

This is a hilarious volume! The Yomadas move to a new home where they are allowed to have pets and the focus of the entire volume is Chi's reaction to moving. If you have ever moved with a cat you will relate to Chi's total freak-out at all the new-ness she has to deal with. Extremely funny. As far as the plot, the move encompasses the entire book though two new characters are introduced who will most likely continue on. There is a rambunctious dog living next door to the Yamadas and one over from them is a long-hair regal, queen/king of the world cat (complete opposite of Chi!). Looking forward to the next volume.

The books are in full color and the chapters are kept short, so it's like reading the weekend comics from the newspaper! The only thing I didn't like was that the book was 'flopped', meaning it's been reprinted from it's right to left format (Japanese) to a left to right one (English). It however, doesn't bother me enough that I wouldn't buy the next volume!
