From Guy-hood to Man-hood. This is the main concept of Brotherton & Blakeney's book, Chiseled. Just pages into the book I realized that I was in for a treat and would now have some stellar material to use with the many young men that I engage with on a daily basis.

Brotherton and Blakeney offer an insightful, practical, and really fun discussion on what it means to actually grow into the kind of man that you ultimately want to be - a man of true toughness, character, and purpose. It's the kind of man that God has in mind for men to be, the kind of man that God seems to honor and bless.

I have read a handful of books on similar topics in the past. I have to say that Chiseled easily outranks them all. The authors honor their reader by not giving a "to-do" list of behavioral ethics, but rather in urging the reader to develop his own code of success. All of this is done through the course of sharing about the punches and pitfalls of life that all guys can, or will inevitably have to, relate to.

I have been leading a young guys group with Chiseled. The guys in my group are completely engaged, challenged and full of great discussion as we read on.

I highly recommend Chiseled for older high school students, college age students, and even older guys. Heck, I'm 32 and I have been hugely challenged as well. I would advise any dad of a young man/teenager or a youth worker to get familiar with Chiseled too.
