Chobits is Brilliant,
By Jessica (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Chobits (DVD)
Wow! Chobits is absolutely an anime worth your time and money. It is an anime that provides many, many laughs and the moments between Chi and Hideki are heartwarming. The animation is wonderful and there are moments where it is laugh-out-loud hilarious. The Chobits anime follows closely to the manga, although there are a few episodes of the anime that are not in the manga. The episodes are none the less wonderful. The charcaters and story line are all superbly done. I found myself using the word "cute" to describe Chi and Plum (Sumomo) many times. The English dub is very well done for those of you who prefer it, and the original Japanese version is, as always, fantastic. I recommend this anime for an older audience as it does contain some rather adult content... content that is very hilarious, but remains older youth/adult humor. Chobits is a spectacular anime and I am positive that you will love it as much as I do. Run out and buy it NOW! ^^

WOW!!! AMAZING,

this is a great series. it is really funny, sumomo is hilarious, as is chi. if you dont plan on buying the box set,
that comes with vloume one (not this set, the on that you buy for 30 dollers that only has the first dvd and the box) this is perfect for you, because you save quite a lot of money and you get the same things that come as if you buy just the disks alone. if i were you, i would buy this along with 4-7. so you can have everything in the seires. this series is so great because it is so... sweet. its funny, nice, and just really good. hard to put it into words how good it is. if you like romantic comedies then this is for you. hideki lived on a farm with his family for 18 years. when he decided to go to college he tried out for it, but he got denied. so he then moved to tokyo to go to one of japan's many cram schools. when he gets there he sees that everyone has a persocom. he really wants one, but cant afford one. so as he is on his way to his apartment he finds a persocom in the grabage who he thinks is a human. but then he finds out its is a persocom and takes her home to fix her. when he gets home he searches for hours trying to find the on switch, but he cant find it. so then he finds out its "inside" her. so he turns her on (with a little trouble, seeing as how nice a guy he is, and that he dosent want to do anything to her) and she awakens. over the time they spend togeather chi learns more and more and more. and she might even be a chobit... a persocom of legend, that has its own A.I program, and that it dosent run on outside programming. that it has feelings and thought of its, or "her" own. but now i cant tell you any more, i dont want to give anything away. i told you enough so that you can basically understand the story. but dont forget, chi is very special, and you will fall in love with her as soon as you see her in the trash all tied up. you will love this series, i would buy it as soon as you are done reading this review, but dont forget to get disks 4, 5, 6, and 7. they are all great! chobits is rated 16+. sometimes it lives up to that rating, but then sometimes you would think it would be rated 13+. there is no sex (except for the covers for hideki's prono mags, and chi always trying to take off her clothes [there in no nudity in this series]). i think that the kids can watch it, but you should watch it with them. the thing i like about it so much is, is the story about love. its shows that its not what you love, but rather who you love. just like people being pregidious. but this movie shows that you dont need to be, that everyone can be togeather and no one should care that my skin is white and yours is black. were all people, or as close to people as we can be. we are all the same, in a way. thank you for reading this. i really hope this helped you!!!

definitely worth it,
This review is from: Chobits Collection 1 (volumes 1-3) (DVD)
[1] first of all, this set is the imported all-region version with the fold-out case. this set comes with all 24+3 episodes spread out on 3 dvds: 1-9, 10-18, 19-24 plus 3 extra-clip episodes.
[2] minuses: > when highlighted, the menu buttons are not completely aligned. but once you get used to it, it's not a big deal. > some of the animated motion are aliased (vertical lines instead of smooth transitions). some may find this distracting, while others have no problem with it. > the format is semi-letterbox (black bars at top and bottom). again, not a big deal to many. [3] pluses: > the animation is still beautifully done! > beautiful fold-out case and case artwork. > 9 episodes per disc, with all of the episodes on 3 discs. > and of course, the low price (50%) compared to the complete two boxed sets! [4] so if you can't afford to spend a lot of cash (and don't mind the technical nitpicking) this is definitely worth getting!

Got me hooked,
This review is from: Chobits (DVD)
Okay, this is one of the more interesting Anime. I read the first manga, and then I found this anime on DVD, and after watching the Anime, I was hooked. This first set of DVDs is all basically character and setting building with a little fore shadowing. It starts to develope a Science Fiction theme as you go through the rest of the story. I highly reccommend buying these first three DVDs if you are at all interested in Chobits, or know someone who is. Then buy the last 3. This anime runs about 26 episodes and each are 25 minutes long. Each of the first 3 DVDs carries 100 minutes each, having 4 episodes per disc. Any one that is into science fiction, anime, love stories, and beutiful pictures, get this.

Fantastic Series!,

Like some have said the series is funny, cute, and even dramatic at times. I can't remember if I cried at all but I remember it being quite moving towards the end. Again I second that it is adult oriented in some aspects but still a very touching storyline.

Truely awe inspiring,
This review is from: Chobits (DVD)
I watched, I laughed, I cried, and I felt every other emotion possible.
If you are shy around overly cute things, you may want to steer clear of this DVD. But if you don't mind the cuteness, or even enjoy that kind of thing, then you absolutely MUST have this box set. It is very funny in some parts, and sad in others, and extremely dramatic at times. It has great animation and probobly the most moving story line I've ever witnessed. I very very strongly recomend Chobits to any anime fan.

Please note that this contains disc 1-3 of the Chobits series. Chobits is a 7 DVD series, so this is NOT the complete series, just a way where you can get some of the discs at a cheaper price. This is the Geneon release, not an "import" (BOOTLEG) release as is described by another reviewer - Geneon made several bundles of partial series as items for major brick & mortar retailers.

Chobits is a great series!,
This review is from: Chobits (DVD)
Chobits is a great series! It is definetely a must see! I haven't read the manga so I cannot compare. It is rated 16 and up but I didn't really find it that offending. (you oppion may differ) It's not that bad for a 16 and up series definetely not near series like Mahoromatic. As for nudity, In one scence part of a person is blackened out. If you pay attention to the characters face you may not even notice this. Chi is somewhat childish but I don't chidish is even anywhere near bad. Afterall she has be reprogrammed and stuff. Part of the probolem for Hideaki is that he doesn't really have that much money to buy stuff for Chi. He usually just teaches her stuff out on her own. As to be suspected he goes through challenges along the way. Hideaki has a collection of porn magazines that Chi calls "yummies" . I think the series is cute for one. Chi is so nicely and cutely drawn. Prabably one of the cutuest anime characters. I've watched this series twice and have both boxsets. There is even another boxset coming out that contains all the episodes and not slit into too. The troubule with anime is money can often be ripped. But the boxsets are pretty cute kind of like a His and Her Circumstances boxset and they have a picture of that here.
