Book Description

January 5, 2010 BBC Classic Radio Sci-Fi
When Matthew introduces his invisible friend Chocky to the family, his parents decide it's just a phase he is going through, but then Matthew starts explaining binary maths and anti-gravity propulsion. Is Chocky really just the product of an overactive imagination, or something more?

About the Author

John Wyndham (1903-1969) began writing and selling short stories in 1925 to periodicals, under a wide array of pseudonyms. After spending World War II in the English civil service and later the British Army, he began experimenting with the idea of speculative fiction, a new kind of science fiction which he employed in The Day of the Triffids and The Chrysalids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most enjoyable., January 20, 2010
This review is from: Chocky: Classic Radio Sci-Fi (BBC Classic Radio Sci-Fi) (Audio CD)
My only complaint is with the voice of the woman who played Matthew's mother in this, she had a somewhat irritating voice that was tedious to listen to. Shame they could not have used someone with a different voice/accent to play the mother. That aside, everything else about this radio production was great. I enjoyed the 3 DVD set of the TV series of Chocky featuring James Hazeldine as the father, but I thoroughly enjoyed this radio play also. It is nice to be able to just relax and listen to the events unfolding and let your imagination create the visuals. My favourite so far, of the Classic Sci-fi radio plays.
