At last, a parent allows their child to have feelings!,

Sophie sees another child with a cookie, (and she's cranky and hungry and it's naptime) and she REALLY wants a cookie, but her mom says "no", they don't have one today, and Sophie has a tantrum, while her mom stands and listens and watches- she's there for her daughter without interfering, and when Sophie is done with her feelings, they go home, there is no judgement or shaming directed at Sophie for her "freak out", just matter-of-fact kindness. It's SO refreshing! I particularly like the message of the book which is that adults don't have to give children whatever they want or try to reason with them, distract them, etc.. They simply need to let children have their feelings about not getting what they want.

We love this book!!,

What a fun and wonderful book this is. My 3 1/2 year old son loves it and even reads aloud with me his favorite parts (THE COOKIE! THE COOKIE!). We really relate to how Sophie feels when she gets really angry and what it feels (and looks)like to have a tantrum. There are no judgements in this book, only real feelings and patience and understanding from a mom. And it has a peaceful loving ending too. Bravo! to Harvey Stevenson and Deborah Blumenthal.... encore! encore!

This is a wonderful book for toddlers and their parents!,

Deborah Blumenthal puts her finger on the frustrations experienced by two-year-olds who don't know how to stop their tantrums once they start. The colorful and charming illustrations keep kids' attention, and the text is simple enough for your toddler to follow and memorize. It's a "universal," captivating book that really struck a chord with my own young son. Anyone dealing with the so-called "terrible twos" should like this book!

If you want a cookie, have a tantrum,
This review is from: The Chocolate-Covered-Cookie Tantrum (Paperback)
I was very disappointed in The Chocolate Covered Cookie Tantrum. This book shows all the terrible details of a full blown tantrum, and at the end Sophie get's what she wanted...a cookie! I wish the author had shown Sophie asking for a cookie in the right way, then deciding to be patient till Mommy could, or chose to give her one. If my child had done that she would have gone through the motions of doing it correctly before she got a cookie.

That is not how we get what we want,
This review is from: The Chocolate-Covered-Cookie Tantrum (Paperback)
No one likes tantrums, and I feel that this story is unrealistic to my demographic. I thought it would be a funny book based on the title but if you really want a good one, read the The Taming of Lola: A Shrew Story. Sophie does not deserve that cookie, If anything, her mother should have made her eat the fruit, since it is better for her anyway. This book fails at teaching a lesson.

This story illustrates the very common tantrum we see in most children . The story depicts a child seeing something he/she can not have and acts out accordingly in a very dramatic scene. The pictures help with the true understanding of what the child and adult actually go through during a set back of this nature.

It was suggested by a psychologist friend because my daughter was having problems with patience and tantrums. It seems to be working and she seems to be able to process it on her own.
Good stuff.

My three year old son loves this book. The first day I read it to him, he asked me to read it again. We have read "The chocolate-covered cookie tantrum" so much that he can sit, look at the pictures and read the book himself.

didn't enjoy,

I bought this book based on a recommendation in the back of a book I have tons of respect for. I read it to my 2 year old who has had some serious tantrums lately and was not a fan of either the illustrations or the story line. It is not enjoyable to read as the entire thing walks you through the temper tantrum of an annoying toddler and I personally didn't feel that the issue was resolved at the end of the story. My husband read it when he got home and told me later how much he hated it. I hate to give such a negative review, but I really wasn't a fan.

Bad Tantrum's,
By
This review is from: The Chocolate-Covered-Cookie Tantrum (Paperback)
the book was cute, but reading it to a 2 year old was difficult the book is all about this girl's tantrum over wanting cookies and there is no punishment for her behavior..... so it kinda promotes tantrum's to get what you want!!!!!
