5.0 out of 5 stars Not the Flava of the month...try lifetime..., June 9, 2006
This review is from: Chocolate Friday (Paperback)
While battling personal issues and disappointments, college professor Olivia Anderson has led a life of quiet and convention, almost to the point of being dull and boring. However, a night out with the girls brings her face-to-face with erotic, eye-opening and endless possibilities.

Andre "Flava" Flaven has had his eyes on Olivia for quite a while and considers their face-to-face encounter nothing short of fate and destiny. Although, he's sexy, strong and compassionate, he's not the type of man Olivia would consider dating or having a relationship with.

Olivia's reluctance to date Andre propels him to educate her on aspects of life and living -- from his unique perspective. The lessons she learns are in self-discovery, pleasurable passion, trust and ultimately, true love. This is my third book by Mrs. Arnold and it blew me away! I will read anything this sister writes. Wonderful, wonderful book!

"Chocolate Friday" written and published by Edwina Martin-Arnold is a wonderful book. I took that book everywhere with me! I absolutely love the fact that the book is based in my hometown and that I could relate to almost all of the places, especially Philadelpia Fevre! I also loved the fact that the heroine had legit problems that she had to work through. Who couldn't identify with that? Thank you Edwina for writting an amusing, wonderful, creative novel for me to enjoy. I recommend this book to anyone over the age of 18, who can read!

5.0 out of 5 stars That Chocolate Flava!!!!! (5+ stars), June 19, 2007
By
This review is from: Chocolate Friday (Paperback)
Book Description: THE NECESSARY HUNGER! A foreign phrase to sedate English professor, Olivia Anderson, unless one were referring to food and such. However, Olivia learns the erotic meaning when she's enticed to take a walk on the wild side and attends an all male revue with a distinct urban edge. There, hidden desires are brought forth especially by one dancer known only as Flava. Returning from her adventure only slightly singed, Professor Anderson gets the shock of her life the first day of the semester when none other than Flava is sitting front and center in her classroom. From that point on, Olivia's world becomes a roller coaster ride of self-discovery where she will either face her deepest fears and possibly discover the love of her life...or endure great anguish.

Purchased during a book-buying-burst as part of my holiday down-time reading (ha), this book, to my horror, sat on my shelf 4 months before I finally read it. I found Chocolate Friday to be a magnificent chocolate treat. This book is a kin to the finest dark chocolate - rich, flavorful, not too sweet, just a little decadent, and oh so satisfying. The story of English professor Olivia Anderson and Andre "Flava" Flaven is more than a wonderful well-told romance. It captures and incorporates a little of the feel of campus life and politics; it has humor, passion, "flava" - not just flavor, and depth within a quick enjoyable read. Olivia learns, among other things, that you can't judge a book by its cover. The story incorporates love and patience from what initially appears to be an unlikely source with solid, supportive family and friends to assist Olivia on her journey to personal growth and ultimately a much more gratifying life. I loved this book from the sexy, humorous beginning to the passionate, amusing center until the loving, witty end. This book was one treat I had to share with friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chocolate does a body good!!!, September 6, 2006
By
This review is from: Chocolate Friday (Paperback)
I am truly a chocolate lover so this just put a little "FLAVA" into my already healthy appetite for the dessert. What a wonderful story, I loved the story just from reading the back cover. Olivia was a beautiful, intelligent thick sister who was all that plus some, she struggled with a demon but "FLAVA" helped her to work it out with buckets full of tender loving care. "DRE" what can I say but YUMMY. He was truly a dream, a man who knew what he wanted and went after it. This is a must read. Edwina Martin-Arnold is a wonderful writer. I would recommend this book and all her additional titles as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME READ!!, January 25, 2006
This review is from: Chocolate Friday (Paperback)
I loved this book! I'm a huge fan of Edwina Martin-Arnold. I didn't think she could top "Eve's Prescription", but "Chocolate Sunday" was scrumptious from cover to cover. I loved having insight on both main characters. What a man Flava was. I can't wait for the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars GODIVA, November 6, 2005
This review is from: Chocolate Friday (Paperback)
This book is as smooth as it's name. The words melt on your tongue while taunting you to take bite after delectable bite. When someone recommended this book to me my first thought was no, not another romance novel. I've read every Harlequein romance novel and the themes do not change; boy gets girl and girl gets boy. I purchased the book based on its' title--Chocolate Friday--because I love chocolate and for me, snack nite falls on a friday. This book is a great read; breaking all the rules of high society. The main character is a mature, intelligent woman who is somewhat innocent; and, has a body to cry for; not the usual carrot eating size 2 with no front or backside. The girl has T&A! This book has it all. It made me laugh and cry because of too many sleepless nights from the beginning to the heart pumping end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yummy Chocolate!, September 28, 2005
This review is from: Chocolate Friday (Paperback)
Chocolate Friday is something a bit out of the ordinary for author Edwina Martin-Arnold. Since this book is self-published, it gives Martin-Arnold greater creative freedom, as this is her best novel yet.
The heroine in Chocolate Friday is more realistic than heroines in traditional romance novels because she doesn't necessarily fit conventional size two beauty molds, and also because she has issues that mirror realistic day to day struggles with self. Interestingly enough, NONE of the supporting characters in the novel fit the perfect/ideal mode, which also makes the novel realistic and adds to it's appeal. Though the heroine struggles with her issues, Martin-Arnold uses light, quirky humor to lighten the mood. I would recommend this novel to anyone! It is a fun read!

5.0 out of 5 stars From a male's perspective, October 11, 2005
This review is from: Chocolate Friday (Paperback)
I would just like to inform all of the fellas out there of what they are missing. I know, I know, you guys are saying that this is just a written "chick flick". Hey, I felt the same way...UNTIL I READ IT! This book is very captivating and keeps you wanting to read more. It also gives insight into how a woman REALLY wants to be loved (which most of us DON'T have a clue on)! I can't wait for her next release...
