More About the Author

Jacquelin Thomas is an award winning, best selling author with twenty-nine titles in print. Her books have garnered several awards, including two EMMA awards, the Romance In Color Reviewers Award, Readers Choice Award and the Atlanta Choice Award in the Religious & Spiritual category. Jacquelin was a 2005 honoree at the Houston Black Film Festival for the movie adaptation of her novel, Hidden Blessings. She was the first recipient to receive the Writers Achievement Award at the North Carolina Book Festival in Winston-Salem.

Although Jacquelin initially published in the romance genre, she decided to follow the call on her heart to write Christian fiction because she seeks to write books that will touch your heart and uplift your spirits with tales of characters who yearn to have an intimate relationship with God. Committed to writing books that glorify God and her growing teen audience, Jacquelin published the first of her Young Adult Inspirational Fiction series titled Simply Divine in October 2006. Her second book in the series, Divine Confidential was nominated for a 2008 NAACP Image Award. She has since gone on to publish two more books in the series.

When asked why she is so passionate about writing teen novels, Thomas shares that teens are confronted with so much--sex, drugs, violence and abuse, physically and mentally. They need to not only listen to what the world says about these things but also to what the Bible says.

Jacquelin is a member of the National Writers Union, Romance Writers of America and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. She is happily married to her best friend and is the proud mother of three children. Jacquelin and her family live in North Carolina.

This review is from: Chocolate Goodies (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Coco Stanley is the owner of a high end chocolate specialty shop. A new business opens up across the street and she has already passed judgement because she hears what she thinks is loud hip hop music and kids going there wearing baggy jeans. She thinks it is a music store and that it will ruin the area and bring gangs around. She finds that it is actually a alternative school for young men to help them get their homework done and to stay out of trouble and out of gangs. Ransom Winters is a self made millionaire and compassionate youth counselor who owns and runs the place he has named the D-Unit. They finally meet after he goes to her families business the Stanley Chocolates factory to talk to her brother about what the D-Unit is and asks if some of the young men can work there part-time. Sparks fly and she listens to what his school is all about, she begins to change her opinion about the youth that go there. A near tragedy happens and she blames Ramsey and his students for the incident. In the end it all works out though. I especially loved this story because it brings back the Ramsey clan from past books. It brings you up to date on Prescott Jr., Garret, Laine, Ray, Ivy, Kaitlin, Jillian, Nyle, Allura and Elle. I loved that series and you will love the circumstances that brings this family together again in this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrid!, November 2, 2011
This review is from: Chocolate Goodies (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is just a horrible, horrible, horrible book. unrealistic... not the plot but the chemistry. who talks like this and interacts like this? they were both so stiff. I could almost picture someone standing behind with a gun saying, "fall in love or i'm going to shoot your brains out!" it was THAT forced!

DO NOT buy this book for any reason. it's not worth the brain cells you will lose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh so sweet, October 17, 2011
The story of Ransom and Coco has to be one of the best of the Kimani Romances that I have read. Romantic, sensual and endearing. The fact that Coco was able to give Ransom the one thing he longed for was awesome. She completed everything for him. Their relationship seemed real and not as melodramtic as some other romances can be. And Ransom sticking to his guns as a Christian man really showed what he was about. Loved every moment of it.
