Chocolate Goodies,

This review is from: Chocolate Goodies (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Coco Stanley is the owner of a high end chocolate specialty shop. A new business opens up across the street and she has already passed judgement because she hears what she thinks is loud hip hop music and kids going there wearing baggy jeans. She thinks it is a music store and that it will ruin the area and bring gangs around. She finds that it is actually a alternative school for young men to help them get their homework done and to stay out of trouble and out of gangs. Ransom Winters is a self made millionaire and compassionate youth counselor who owns and runs the place he has named the D-Unit. They finally meet after he goes to her families business the Stanley Chocolates factory to talk to her brother about what the D-Unit is and asks if some of the young men can work there part-time. Sparks fly and she listens to what his school is all about, she begins to change her opinion about the youth that go there. A near tragedy happens and she blames Ramsey and his students for the incident. In the end it all works out though. I especially loved this story because it brings back the Ramsey clan from past books. It brings you up to date on Prescott Jr., Garret, Laine, Ray, Ivy, Kaitlin, Jillian, Nyle, Allura and Elle. I loved that series and you will love the circumstances that brings this family together again in this book.

This is just a horrible, horrible, horrible book. unrealistic... not the plot but the chemistry. who talks like this and interacts like this? they were both so stiff. I could almost picture someone standing behind with a gun saying, "fall in love or i'm going to shoot your brains out!" it was THAT forced! DO NOT buy this book for any reason. it's not worth the brain cells you will lose.

The story of Ransom and Coco has to be one of the best of the Kimani Romances that I have read. Romantic, sensual and endearing. The fact that Coco was able to give Ransom the one thing he longed for was awesome. She completed everything for him. Their relationship seemed real and not as melodramtic as some other romances can be. And Ransom sticking to his guns as a Christian man really showed what he was about. Loved every moment of it.

Coco is the owner of a high end chocolate shop. Ransom is the guy across the street with the store with the loud music. She wants him and his store gone from the community, but once she meets him and realizes what his operation is really about she changes her mind. Soon the sparks start to fly between them. But a few incidents including a break-in at Coco's store and a revelation about Ransom's past cause initial tensions between the two. These two have to get past their own reservations to find out if their romance is as good as it first seemed.
I don't read Kimani Romances, but I bought this one because it was a Jacquelin Thomas and I love Thomas' work. This book was Jaquelin Thomas in Kimani style. It was a good love story for people who love love stories. The characters were interesting and Ransom's back story was also quite interesting to me. I liked the relationship between Ransom and Coco, although at times I wondered if they had anything in common that would hold their relationship together longterm. I found that the pacing was a bit odd and the time period over which the book took place was just a bit too long. But it was not strange enough to take away from the story. This is not a super deep soul-searching read, but if you love Thomas' work, and are looking for a quick romance read that's lean on the sex scenes, then this is for you. I would definitely recommend it. I give it 3.5 stars.

Who would have thought Ms. Thomas could bring the love of reading, and story telling together with sweet chocolate. Normal I would have a good piece of choclate while reading, but this book staisfied my craving.

Jacquelin has done it again! Ransom's and Coco's story of developing a Christian romantic relationship is refreshing and realistic. As usual, Jacquelin's mastery of penning a story is effortless. There is so much new knowledge to take away from the story; the plight of struggling youth and those who help and fear them; the chocolate business; music writing business; dealing with betrayal; and so on. Completed the book in one sitting, it was so engaging. It was wonderful to catch up with the Ransom family and I look forward to seeing what happens with Michael and Ivy. It's a blessing to be able to enjoy a romantic story that is not riddled with vivid sexual scenes and pornographic language. Thank you Mrs. Thomas and PLEASE, don't stop writing for us! I've personally stopped reading books from some of those authors who continue to 'up' the ante with the more risque writing. It grieves my spirit and is too close to the edge of sin.

This was a very good book I love the fact that Jacquelin caught us up with the other Ramson it is always good to re-visit family. You can feel the chemistry between the couple. In the beginning you will think Coco is a snob by the way she act, but Coco will learn you can't judge a book or a person by it cover or the type of clothes they wear.
Ramson is one of those guys you will love who wants to help everybody and knows that all people want is to be given a chance in life and not be judge. Enjoy the book. Smooches Louise

This book was very different from other romance books. It should be labeled a "christian" romance. That would have been ok with me that they would save sex until after marriage (although no scene was included, just alluded to), but the entire flow of the book was off..."christian" romance or "non-christian" romance. By pg 55 I was ready to put it down because the chemistry wasn't flowing between Coco and Ransom. There "love" was so quickly defined, but not developed. The scenes between Coco and the delinquents were touching, but a little weird. It felt like I was reading an afterschool special instead of a romance. I continued to read this book for 3 reasons. 1.I wanted to know why Coco and her father felt Ransom looked so familiar. 2.I liked those chocolate ingredients for recipes she would put into the story. 3. I liked Ransom's idea of an education focused community center. All of this was done by page 83. I couldn't continue, so I skipped to the last chapter to hear the conclusion. Apparently, there are more books to come about this family, but I won't be purchasing those. If I had it to do over again, I would leave this book on the shelf.
