5.0 out of 5 stars Chocolate
This is a great single to buy. CHOCOLATE is one of my favorites from her vastly underrated BODY LANGUAGE album. The song oozes with sexuality, and it's easily the sexiest song she's ever sung. What a treat to have some mixes, including the Emo Mix and Tom Iddleton's Cosmos Mix. Great mixes! There is also a live version of "Love At First Sight" from her MONEY CANT BUY...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Song, But...
"Chocolate" was the best song on Ms. Minogue's Body Language album, but this single gives you a truncated version. It's shorter, with some added effects. It looses a lot of the flow which makes the album version so memorable. The bonus track, "City Games" is nothing noteworthy, and the "Chocolate" remixes just further dimishish the orginal song. The live version of "Love...

There is also a live version of "Love At First Sight" from her MONEY CANT BUY special that was used to promote the BODY LANGUAGE album. The unreleased track "City Games" was rumored to be the first single from that album, but it never made the album and was said to have never existed. It's a nice song. The video for CHOCOLATE is also on here, one of her best if you ask me. A wonderful single worth buying!

Kylie Minogue's third single from BODY LANGUAGE has perhaps the best packaging of them all. The track that had been rumored to lead off a new direction for Kylie, CITY GAMES, is included here, even after the record company's bald-faced claims that it did not exist. Great news, but unfortunately it isn't a new direction for anyone concerned. However the BODY LANGUAGE LIVE version of last year's sensation LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT shows Kylie at her most exuberant, it's apparently a song she loves to sing and she does so with enormous gusto and style. And the audience loves her back.

As for CHOCOLATE itself, I wasn't too keen on hearing it on the LP, but the new version is hugely catchy, and the video is strange and freakishly beautiful. Kylie's costumes are all in a very rich range of Renaissance (or really Pre-Raphaelite) colors, and extremely rich fabrics, damaska, silks, I suppose to give the corresponding visual equivalent to the sweetness and meltingness of chocolate. The choreography is jagged and awkward, very Martha Graham, and then in the middle section Kylie tries a pas de deux with a younger (male) dancer and brings it off surprisingly well. There are some endearing "experimental" moments as well, very Maya Deren (a group of dancers revolving on a spinning plate move back in the camera to reveal they are actually dancing on Kylie's hat!) and quite overwrought, like chocolate . . .

4.0 out of 5 stars Sumptuous...., June 28, 2004

As a Kylie fan for the last 17 years (ouch), I have been very disappointed with her output recently - 'Slow' was interesting and 'Red Blooded Woman' was ok. The Album 'Body Language' was hugely disappointing for me, by all means, try a new musical direction, but at least make it interesting.
'Chocolate', the 3rd single from the BL album and was always a standout track in my opinion. Sumptious, soft, sexy vocals, and a chilled, mid tempo beat, this is Kylies strongest single in some time.

As for the cd itself... the newly re-recorded single version is gorgeous, the Middleton Cosmos mix is just rubbish (hardly any vocals, and nothing that sounds like the original), the EMO mix is excellent (a different, slightly edgier beat but retains the essence of the original), and a new song, 'City Games', which is probably better than most of the tracks off the album.
The live version of the ultra poppy and wondeful 'Love at first sight' proves she can hold a note well.
Also included is the very stylish and beautiful ballet(ish) themed video...

This cd is a reminder of a Kylie passed - its still a different style to what we are used to from her, but it still contains that glorious Kylie element, something fans have been deprived of recently.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kylie takes a bite at subtlety...., July 26, 2004

Kylie Minogue isn't a very subtle performer - she's famous for hi-NRG floorfillers, not purring ballads. A ballad in the hands of a pop singer can be a nightmare but with Kylie, it's a dream and CHOCOLATE is a perfect example of it. Sweet and slow, it flows like its namesake throughout, with a catchy chorus that will for sure melt her fans down. Remixed for release, this CD also includes the funky CITY GAMES, two remixes (the EMO mix is the better one) and a live track, taken from her BODY LANGUAGE LIVE DVD, which should receive a late 2004 release in the USA.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Like Chocolate, January 16, 2005
This review is from: Chocolate (Audio CD)
"Chocolate" is the 3rd Single from "Body Language", and can be named as a Classic !

This Song can be described as Sexy, Seductive, Delicious, Breath Taking at the same time, obviously another Amazing track performed by Kylie Minogue.

Kylie delivered to us an exquisite ballad with a fresh sound, necesary for the radio audience of Today. The Lyrics of the song are great too, here is a little fragment that describes the track better:

"If love were liquid it would drown me, In a placeless place would find me, In a heart shape come around me and then, Melt me slowly down"

The Single contains the Excellent song, 2 mixes (The Tom Middleton Mix & the EMO Mix), a Live version of the Smash Hit Single "Love At First Sight" (Recorded at the "Money Can Buy" show), a Previously Unreleased track called "City Games", plus the Spectacular & Classy Chocolate Video

Obviously, "Chocolate" is one of the best singles of 2004 and this package (the Australian Version) is one of those CD's that you have to Buy. You Won't regret It.

Thanks For Reading this Review =)

4.0 out of 5 stars Highlight Of BODY LANGUAGE, August 28, 2004
By
Chris S. "cscotts" (atlanta, ga United States) - See all my reviews

As with the previous two singles from her sorely overlooked BODY LANGUAGE set, Minogue manages to go for something light years away from what many consider her given forte', that being straight up dance music. It's a shame that the singles from the album have met with only modest success(and the album itself even less so). This is another first-rate track, probably the best on the album, though I must say the re-recorded single version dwarfs in comparison to the magnificent album version, which may have not been considered "commercial" enough for radio.
The remixes here are fine, the bonus track "City Games"(rumored to be the original choice as the album's title track) not so much, and the video lovely. Unfortunately, this looks to be the last single from BL--I suspect in the not-so-distant future we will witness the return of Disco/Dance Kylie with a "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" beat pulsing not too far behind.

Can the track CHOCOLATE from miss Minogue be more sensual inviting than this, well, I don't think so, this is one of those track U can just get enough of, a track filled with drama, classyness, and style can do no wrong, CHOCOLATE an alegory of LOVE, LUST AND MUSIC, such a pleasure. This has to be one those downtempo sensual tracks that makes you want to run to your love one....great, top of my list.

4.0 out of 5 stars A rare & wondeful treat, August 3, 2005
This review is from: Chocolate (Audio CD)
I was extremely lucky to have found this, because it is a) an import & b) limited edition...especially lucky to find just thrown in the kylie section of a Pennsylvania Borders! Ok, here it is track-by-track:

1. Chocolate [Radio Edit]:While this cuts the album version of the song by one minute and two seconds, it's better. Her vocals are improved, & more of an arrangement is used. 10/10

2. City Games: THis extreme rarity is fabulous. Very R&B pop. 10/10

3. Chocolate [Tom Middleton Cosmos Remix]: A club dub. Cool when you have so much energy in you that you have to dance it out, but not for a regular listen. 7/10

4. Chocolate [EMO Mix]: Woderful. A good R&B dance mix of the song. 9/10

5. Love @ First Sight [Live]: A live version of the Fever hit. I usually love live sounds, but this when isn't quite up to par with the original. 8/10

I still have yet to figure out how to access the video. (...)

Overall great package, great mixes, great rarities.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kylie knows how to please her listeners with Chocolate, July 10, 2005
By
This review is from: Chocolate (Audio CD)
Chocolate was the last single to be up-lifted from her Body Language album. Chocolate reached #5 in Australia, and #4 in the UK. This track was one of Kylie's favorite songs from the BL project. This song is certainly a treasure with it's beautiful lyrics and a perfection of a ballad rhythm. *Note: Usually when you buy the Australian version of a single, you're included extra rarities like enhanced media, and unreleased songs. I recommend you buy any Australian single from this wonderful artist.*

1.) Chocolate 4:02 - This is known as the "Radio Edit" on her Ultimate Kylie CD. It goes directly into the song without the long intro like the album version. This version has a deeper pulse of beats and sounds more "live". Her vocals are vocoded and the instruments plays a louder part in the song. I prefer this version better because the pulse for it to be a ballad is incredible. It's a down-tempo romantic ballad transformed to a pop power ballad is truly essential. With lyrics like "Chocolate/come here/zoom in and catch the smile/there's no doubt/it's for you/i'm addicted tonight." Kylie sure knows how to please her chocolate lovers =). *****

2. City Games 3:44 - A unreleased song from the Body Language sessions. This song has a rhythmic beat of 80s robotic slicks and rnb beats with a mixture of slow rap lyrics. I think the reason why this song wasn't included because her vocal range on this song is deeper and not as "alto" like the songs that where on the BL album. This is a fun 80s pop song, definetly a floorfiller to dance too. *****

3. Chocolate ( Tom Middleton Cosmos Mix ) 7:31 - The longest track on the single, it stars off with her sounding like she's in the galaxy far away. Her vocals becomes more clearer saying "waited so long" in the beginning as the song progresses. The beat is a late night lounge mix, slow and danceable. The beat has its ray galaxy sounds. This song is mostly vocal free which is the downfall to this mix. Basically sounds like a "dub". This is the strongest mix besides the EMO Mix. **** 1/2

4. Chocolate ( EMO Mix) 4:32 - At the beginning at the song you have claps and BPM beats. The vocals are at the whispering range. As this song gets deeper, it sounds like a Livegig in a poets night club. This song has its ups and downs. The lyrics really dosen't fit this mix. The beat and the lyrics dosen't match. The advantage that this song has over the Tom Middleton Mix is that the vocals are more present and complete. ****

5. Love At First Sight ( Live ) 4:59 - A bonus track basically from her Body Language Live DVD. The live video transformed to audio format. A really good live version of Love At First Sight. Just a little more extended than the original album version. A great track to listen too if you want to sing like your live. ****

6. Chocolate ( Video) - The treat starts here. The Chocolate video is more laid back and down-toned than her Slow and Red Blooded Woman video. This video has her like in a french setting with ballet dancers with Kylie wearing all sorts of hair styles. The moves for this video is simply classy and slow groove dancing. She's simply amazing and beautiful in this video. The video is based on her album version.

Chocolate is a great single. More laid back than her previous BL singles, which is a good thing. Kylie slows down the paste with her Chocolate single, which is something that we all needed. Keep up the good work Kylie!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great single, May 10, 2007
This review is from: Chocolate (Audio CD)
I agree w/ the other fans: Chocolate is a fantastic single. If you like the song, you'll love the remixes! They give nice alternatives to an already gr8 song, and you'll get a bonus, non-album track. Highly recommended, and have a gr8 day, reader.
