Terrible customer service,

I ordered a set of 6 of these torches ; you have to build them by screwing the top part to the pole ; some of the threads are really tough to screw, but the worst part is the thread on two of the cups was so bent that the torches sit at an angle, making them completely useless (not to mention esthetically unpleasing), and one of the poles was broken. I wrote to Backyardbargain's customer service on March 7 to inform them of the problem and I asked what I had to do to return the 2 falty items and get 2 new ones in working order. On March 9, somebody asked me to send pictures, which I did right away. By March 12, having received no answer, I sent two other emails asking for comments on the pictures. Here is the answer I received "Sometimes, the screws do come in a little bent and we apologize for that. Fixing the the screw is simple. Take the top part of the torch where the screw is attached and partially place it into the bottom of the finial part. Bend the canister slightly and the screw will straighten out. This should straighten out the torch. If your are still having problems please feel free to send another email. I can give you a $5 discount on that broken pole that you received. If you do not think you can use it. I can send another bottom piece out."
There is simply no way you can bend this thread, it is way too thick to apply any pressure on it. After several emails in which I asked how I should proceed to replace the 2 bent torches, I finally got this answer from them on March 17 : "We will send a call tag to pick up all 6 used, new torches and give you a full refund once we receive the items in new condition. Backyard Bargain apologizes that you were unhappy with your purchase. Please let us know the address to send the call tag and please pack the torches in the original box with all of the packing." After another set of emails in which I told them that having already built the 4 torches that were not bent I'd rather keep them, and asked how I could either exchange the 2 that were bent or get credit only for these 2, I received this on March 23 "We will pick up the two torches and issue you a credit. However, if they are not damaged and can be easily bent straight. We will not be able to issue a credit." Since then, I have not heard anything from a possible carrier regarding the pick up, received no return labels. I bought this set of 6 torches because it seemed a good price, and because I needed .............. 6 of them, now I have only 4, which makes the price much less interesting. I think this company does not carry business properly, they do not reply to emails, and they really do not try to accommodate the customer ; I do think it is people like this that give a bad reputation to doing business on the internet.

Nice Chocolate Mosaic TIki Torchs... the shipping is too high if you ask me - its a small box afterall. The product is nice - Out of 6 caps I received, 3 of them were old looking - rusty and dusty... I am assuming these were returned by someone - luckly I don't care enough to return these for the 3 rusty caps. good size toarches... seem like they can last few seasons... we shall see. over all pretty nice product
