Looks pretty but none of the recipes work, nice for kids to browse,
This review is from: Chocolate and Sweets to Make (Usborne Activities) (Paperback)
These sweets and recipes look lovely, but having made several of them, and a friend tried several of them too THEY DO NOT WORK!!!! The biscuits have the wrong proportions, the fairy fudge is too runny, the fudge is foul tasting and runny too.
The only recipes that actually work are the ones such as the pieces of fruit dipped in chocolate. But there is little you have to do except melt chocolate. I was bitterly disappointed with this book which I gave to a friend. I had bouight a couple of the other Usborne cooking books for my children at the same time because they looked great and inspired the children to make Christmas gifts. However, as none of the recipes we made, or our friend made turned out I feel completely let down. The good side of this book is it looks pretty and there are other activities in here, how to wrap, present, make gift tags etc. It is also very pretty and has lovely child friendly instructions. The down side is that nothing turns out so expect disappointment! I hope Usborne will amend the recipes if they reprint to make them work out.
