I've heard about Widespread Panic for years but for some reason never took the time to listen. On a recent business trip my boss and co-worker (who are HUGE fans) played a couple songs for me. I was impressed enough to pick up their greatest hits to get a better idea about what they're all about. I was blown away by the musicianship and just plain great songs. I'd categorize their sounds as Jam Band meets Southern Rock. Since buying this about 6 months ago I've bought almost all of the rest of their catalog and will finish soon. I highly suggest this for new listeners, those wanting to explore their work and even existing fans who want a collection of some of the best songs together in one place. My personal favorites are song #1 Traveling light (Eric Clapton also released this song in 2001 on the album Reptile) and Pigeons.

The songs are good, and representative of the band's music in the '90's, but this is a typical 'best of' album. Some great songs, but they don't flow together like a true album does and it is not the complete list of their best music by any means. A great starter, but don't take to long to pick up another of their albums.
