It is good to be able to find a compilation by this wonderful artist. He was a forerunner of what Malaco Records was to become. These tunes really helped to put Malaco Records "on the map.Motown and Stax were the Kings at that time."Floyd's first hit "Grove Me" and others are included on this CD. However, some of his great tunes such as Rappin' "Let Us Be" and the duet with Dorothy Moore ( We Can Love) are not included on this compilation and this takes away from the true concept of greatest hits. That may be the reason why it is called "Choice Cuts." Yet,it is still nice. He has the flavor of an Otis Redding in his smooth, warm, tenor voice style. He knows how to express himself in a song, for he can beg, plead (Woman Don't Go Astray) and give counsel ( Trouble) all through music in such a way that we get the message. This C D will make you dance,think and want your mate to hurry home at the same time. One might say that it is very good therapy for about eleven dollars.

There's much more to this artist than "Groove Me".I remember growing up in the New Orleans area in the 70's and grooving to most of the songs on this CD.At the parties,the dances,or the nite clubs, you HAD to spin King Floyd. I was a DJ.

I can remember hearing "Groove Me" at the tender age of 5. It was very catchy and received a lot of airplay. I believe I had not heard the phrase (Sooky sooky) until he penned it. The most underrated song on "Baby Let Me Kiss You", which is not only seductive but the reggae and funk combination makes for a great dance record as well. He was truly an innovative artist before his time...
