JJ Grey and Mofro are one of my favorite bands, and being able to get some of their "selected cuts" on vinyl is something I wish I saw more bands doing!

I am old enough to remember LP's and still have a Kenwood KD-2055 turntable and have not put new vinyl on it in to many years. When I got this NEW LP the corners were bent and I thought it would be warped for sure. Not this baby, it is as thick as a half-master of old. What a press. When I laid it on the Turntable it was flat as water. The sound quality is out of this world. The only complaint I have is that the old Turntable cannot put out the signal strength my Yamaha RX-2500 would like to crank this LP through the roof. The LP itself, and the band, the Man and his music, should really not need my review as they are simply the best at what I call "Florida Swamp Music". If you have heard their music then you know what I mean, if not, you should seriously check them out.

Finally, a vinyl offering from this great southern band to really get the full flavor of their gritty music. This Florida-blues rock outfit puts out aural pleasure that at once reminds you of sunny fields of orange blossoms and bar-room floors covered in sawdust. It is easy to gripe about the 'choice cuts' JJ picked for this release. Yes, it has most of my favorite Mofro offerings including: Lochloosa, The Sun is Shining Down, and Ho Cake; but after those three, I could easily have picked a completely different Greatest Hits album. Of course, that's just sour grapes from a devoted fan. But where is Blackwater? Dirtfloorcracker? Fireflies? A Woman? I Believe (In Everything)? So many choices, and of course with my additions it would be a 2-vinyl set, which I am not opposed to! Tupelo Honey, by the way, is a great cut created just for this album. All in all, a wonderful album. Thank you JJ for releasing something the ardent fan will cherish!
