5.0 out of 5 stars Insights on the Selection of GOP Nominees, May 16, 2008
By
This review is from: A Choice Not An Echo (Paperback)
Phyllis Schlafly's book was written in support of Barry Goldwater's candidacy for the 1964 Republican nomination. She outlined how, in each election year from 1936 to 1960, the moderates in the party managed to ensure that no conservative was nominated. Goldwater broke through in 1964, and eventually a true conservative, Ronald Reagan, was elected president in 1980.

Then as now, conservatives in most presidential years, including 2008, are dismayed that a moderate, not a conservative, winds up being nominated. Since Coolidge, there have been only three presidential elections (1964, 1980, and 1984) in which a movement conservative led the GOP ticket. In the future, perhaps we conservatives should not be shocked when a conservative is not at the top of the Republican ticket, but when one is.

I read this many years ago, but wanted to have a copy to keep. Little did I know that the words and opinions, and facts that the author wrote about would be relavant to tody.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Choice Not An Echo, November 6, 2011

This review is from: A Choice Not An Echo (Paperback)
A Choice Not An Echo is an execellent read for Political Minded Folks and for anyone in the General Population who cares about the American Republic. Author Phyllis Schlafly explains how the "King Makers" selected the Republican Presidential Candidates from 1936 - 1964 in order to be able to control the President whether Republican or Democrat.

The process by which the King Makers control events is evident today. The King Makers want nothing to do with a Ron Paul presidential candidacy. By manipulating the Mass Media, the King Makers are propping up Hermain Cain because they can control him. Herman Cain is being touted as a Political Outsider when in fact he is a Total Political Insider, having spent years with the Federal Reserve. Yet, the Media constantly refers to Cain as "The former CEO of GodFather's Pizza". Why does the Media call Cain that ? To call Herman Cain the CEO of a pizza company is like calling Joe Dimaggio the former husband of Marilyn Monroe.
