5.0 out of 5 stars Worth buying and watching
Great movie and topic. Wonderful acting by the beautiful Dana Delany. All together a really good movie, very informative and enlightening about a touchy subject.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Great American Propaganda Story
Margaret Sanger -- socialist, eugenicist, atheist, fugivitve from the law, divorcee, sexually promiscuous, racist. Oh, but the movie forgot to mention most of these facts. I guess they didn't want to mix in too much truth and make a movie about the real Margaret Sanger. Sanger said, "Apply a stern and rigid policy of sterilization and segregation to that grade of...

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating story of a complex woman!, November 21, 2011

Loved this film! Dana Delany was excellent as Margaret Sanger a woman who faced great challenges. Great story about a fascinating woman, made me want to cry and punch a few stubborn stupid men in the ovaries!! Loved Henry Czerny too as the somewhat supportive husband. Great cast all round. Read the story of Margaret Sanger very interesting woman with a fascinating life story.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Absolutely Loved This Movie!!!, August 17, 2007
By
Dudley Delany (Virginia Beach, VA, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Starring Dana Delany in one of her most moving performances, this movie dramatizes the inspiring true story of Margaret Sanger, a registered nurse and woman of uncommon valor who championed the reproductive rights of women in the slums of New York City during the early part of 20th century. Spending time in jail for her convictions, she eventually went on to found the organization now known as Planned Parenthood. The presentation was beautifully cast, beautifully written, and beautifully performed. It is an absolute "must see" for anyone interested in the history of women's rights, of nursing, and of health care in general.

Sanger said, "Apply a stern and rigid policy of sterilization and segregation to that grade of population whose progeny is already tainted or whose inheritance is such that objectionable traits may be transmitted to offspring." I didn't hear that quote in the movie, either. I wonder who she would put in charge of choosing which couples were worthy of reproducing? She's the founder of Planned Parenthood, primary provider of the 3 to 5 million abortions that are perfomed in this country every year. Hey, maybe we should have a national holiday to honor her. And think of how many more people would actually be alive to do so if it wasn't for the accomplishments of Margaret Sanger.

It's too bad there's not an option to give a zero star rating. This deserves it.

YEARS AGO THERE WAS A DOCUMENTERY CALLED CHOICES OF THE HEART ON PBS. IT ALSO STARED DANA DELANEY. I WAS HOPING THAT THIS WAS THE SAME. I LIKED THIS STORY VERY MUCH BUT I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN KNOWING IF THERE IS ANOTHER VERSION. I REMEMBER THE DOCUMENTARY BEING IN SEVERAL PARTS.
