4.0 out of 5 stars NO ... IT'S NOT A BLOOD LAB !
I have used this testing product for a few years. YES ... it is definitely inaccurrate BUT HIGH IS HIGH AND LOW IS LOW. This will give you a ball park figure of how your progress is going with your cholestoral lowering efforts. I have found that it is usually around 20 points +/-. However if your cholestoral is above 250 twenty points doesn't matter ... IT'S HIGH. When...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not even close!
I have used this product for a while now. In each case, when verifying via a Doctor's visit, it comes in way low. And yes, I know how to use the device properly. This is a very inaccurate measuring device - my advice is not to base any health decision on it. Pay for a lab test.

You would get more accurate results rolling dice. Unless my total has dropped by 100 points since my last lab test... the next model is going to skip the blood and have you pick a number between 1 and 100.

1.0 out of 5 stars Agree with other reviewers, February 14, 2009

I agree with the other reviewers. This device does not give you an accurate measurement of either total cholesterol or HDL - the company's other kit. The numbers appear to be low by about a third.

Finger stick device failed to get enough blood to do the test. Wasted $25.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not work, December 6, 2010
This review is from: CholesTrak Home Cholesterol Test Kit - 2 ea (Health and Beauty)
I've bought many of these over the years, and they usually gave results much lower than the lab work from 3 different labs. I filled out the forms for the FDA to report this kind of bad product, but they only responded by giving me contact information for the manufacturer. The manufacturer declared the kits were properly tested and calibrated. I asked for the documentation from the labs to prove it and they refused to release the information. No refund was offered. FDA did not follow through with any action.

Use it for information and assistance ... not the bottom line of your health.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product!, March 16, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: CholesTrak Home Cholesterol Test Kit - 2 ea (Health and Beauty)
My spouse has been looking for this brand of cholesterol test kit for years and had thought that it was discontinued. The outfit it was purchased from had stopped carrying them. It's disappointing when one thinks highly of a brand or product and cannot obtain it again. I've never used any such kit before and never felt a need to. However, since our insurance company only covers cholesterol testing once every five years and high cholesterol runs in my family, I decided to try out such a kid, when I saw it listed on Amazon. But I am scared to death of needles. I found this kit painless, quick and easy to do. Further, I like the results I got, and my spouse is happy that I have found a favorite brand on Amazon and will be ordering kits in the future.
