Product Description

CHOLODIN contains sources of choline and posphatidylcholine, two of the most common phospholipids. When present in sufficient dietary quantities, these components act as neurotransmitter precursors, which are chemicals manufactured and released by nerve cells that initiate the sending of "messages" from those cells. Occasionally, geriatric dogs and cats display clinical signs unexplainable by a specific pathological diagnosis. Examples include: Lethargy and reduced awareness of surroundings.Poor coat; excessive shedding or thin, dry coat.Chronic constipation or fecal incontinence.Inappropriate urination.Poor appetite; animal eats too little to maintain an adequate body weight.Poor mental acuity. For animals displaying one or more of these conditions, choline supplementation with CHOLODIN may be a very effective aid in treatment. CHOLODIN has four major functions: 1. It is a significant dietary factor in preventing fattyliver syndrome in diabetic dogs.2. It can donate methyl groups needed to synthesize other compounds. 3. It is necessary for acetylcholine formation. 4. It is a component of phospolipid and lecithin, and a constituent of plasmalogens, which are abundant in mitochondria and in sphingomyelin, found particularly in the brain. Small Animal Dietary Supplement: Active Ingredient(s): CHOLODIN contains: Phosphatidylcholine (from soy lecithin), choline (as chloride), dlmethionine, inositol, zinc (as oxide), niacinamide, vitamin E, thiamine (mononitrate), riboflavin, pyridoxine (HCl), selenium (sodium selenite), vitamin B12 (cobalamin concentrate), and dexpanthenol. Formulated with a flavor base. Dosage and Administration: Usual Daily Dose: Cats and Small Dogs 1/21 tablet 1/41/2 teaspoonful Large Dogs 12 tablets 1/21 teaspoonful The tablets may be fed by hand or crumbled and mixed with food.

This product has really helped my old dogs. I had a 16 year old dachshund that I had been keeping going and going and going with various natural and alternative and homeopathic remedies (she had Cushings Disease and multiple other health issues normal and usual for a dog that old). When she started manifesting Canine Dysfunction Syndrome, where she would walk in circles like she was lost, get stuck facing a corner just standing there, lost, it was really breaking my heart. I tried another product here on Amazon for this, and it helped, but was expensive. This product is sold by several different vendors I believe, and one of them sold it for a GREAT price. I ordered that one. When I finished giving the other, more expensive product, I started this one. I noticed an improvement very very soon. I kept my dog on it until she passed in June this year, at the ripe old age of 16 years and 9 months. During the entire time that I had her on this product - Cholodin Canine Chewables, she never once manifested senility. About 2 months after she passed, I noticed one of my other dachshunds start to manifest some of the senility symptoms that I had seen in my other dog before she got really bad, so as I still have 2 twelve year old dachshunds at home who are growing old together, I put them both on this product that I had left over. I noticed that the mild symptoms in the one dog disappeared and he went back to his usual mental alertness. So although they are both still manifesting the usual physical aspects of getting old, they are not losing them mental acuity. I will definitely be ordering more.

Our 14 year old mixed breed dog was showing most of the signs of dementia (canine cognitive dysfunction). She was less social, never played with us or her toys any more, never greeted us at the door, slept during the day but not at night, and had lost most of her housetraining. She wasn't excited about going for walks, and did not even recognize our front yard when returning from a walk, but just walked past it. I did some research online and found the Cholodin product.

We saw improvements immediately after giving our dog the first dose, and continue to see her improving after almost two weeks. She plays again, looks forward to walks again, greets us at the door and is happy to be around us, and recognizes our house again when returning from a walk. Each day brings a little more progress; today she stayed awake most of the morning and stayed near me as she used to.

We did not see any improvement in sleeping through the night from the Cholodin; she continued to wake at unpredictable times, but she went back to sleep more easily instead of pacing for hours. (As a side note, we have improved her sleep with Vit. C and alfalfa, both to help with arthritis pain.) We also have seen an improvement in not relieving herself in the house, although it hasn't completely ceased.

I am so happy to have this supplement instead of having to turn to medications.

My 11 yr old Lab was showing signs of canine cognitive dysfunction. He would blankly stare at the wall, seemed confused and "out of it", was having anxiety attacks at night where he would pace and whine for hours, he would pant incessantly - day and night, he lost interest in his toys, and even had an accident in the house -- something he had never done before. He's been on the Cholodin now for a few months. We saw signs of improvement pretty quickly, probably within a week or two. He no longer spaced out, he wasn't nearly as restless, the panting decreased by probably 90%, the night time crying stopped, and he regained some of his playful personality. He was doing much better for several weeks, but has now started to show signs of distress again. However, we are only giving him 1 pill per day which is 1/2 the recommended dosage. We will be increasing to the full dosage as soon as the next shipment arrives so I'm hopeful that will get him back to normal. This product is definitely worth a try. It was heartbreaking to see my baby suffering the way he was. Cholodin gave him his life back.

My 14-year old Tibetan Spaniel was showing signs of doggie dementia. I had used this product before for an elderly Beagle and was highly impressed with the way it worked, so I put Oliver on it. It worked as well on Oliver as it did on my Beagle, and I truly feel like Oliver is happier and more in tune with life. I would recommend this to anyone with a senior dog who is showing signs of dementia.

My 16 year old was completely befuddled and confused. He did what many others have mentioned in their reviews that their dogs were doing; walking in circles, staring off into space, standing with his head in the corner, tripping over things and stepping in his food dish. He also didn't recognize that I was calling him and took no notice of other sounds either, leading me to think he'd gone deaf. He lost all interest in everything and everybody. I started him on the Cholodin Jan. 16th. Because I was concerned about the possible side effect that's stated on the bottle, I gave him half a dose for the first 7 days to gradually get him used to it, then increased to the full dose for his weight. A week or so later, I didn't notice any positive change in his behavior, but he did seem especially wired-up and more anxious, (he'd also gone blind in one eye literally overnight, waking up one morning with it completely white, no doubt which contributed to his agitation.) so I took him off of the Cholodin for 3 days, and then resumed giving it to him. When a couple more weeks went by and there still was no improvement, and in fact he seemed worse, I went online to find a crematorium and tried to resign myself (without much success) to the fact that I was going to be losing him very soon. 3 days ago, I was getting ready to write my very-disappointed review, when I called him and he actually turned his head and made eye contact. This was HUGE, since he's been little more than a zombie for quite some time, bumping into things and having absolutely nothing to do with me. Yesterday, I let him out in the yard, and he came back to the door on his own and didn't get "lost" like he's been doing for the last several months. Today, he's even better. He not only responded when I called him, he actually came to me.Read more ›
