Product Description

CHOLODIN contains sources of choline and posphatidylcholine, two of the most common phospholipids. When present in sufficient dietary quantities, these components act as neurotransmitter precursors, which are chemicals manufactured and released by nerve cells that initiate the sending of "messages" from those cells. Occasionally, geriatric dogs and cats display clinical signs unexplainable by a specific pathological diagnosis. Examples include: Lethargy and reduced awareness of surroundings.Poor coat; excessive shedding or thin, dry coat.Chronic constipation or fecal incontinence.Inappropriate urination.Poor appetite; animal eats too little to maintain an adequate body weight.Poor mental acuity. For animals displaying one or more of these conditions, choline supplementation with CHOLODIN may be a very effective aid in treatment. CHOLODIN has four major functions: 1. It is a significant dietary factor in preventing fattyliver syndrome in diabetic dogs.2. It can donate methyl groups needed to synthesize other compounds. 3. It is necessary for acetylcholine formation. 4. It is a component of phospolipid and lecithin, and a constituent of plasmalogens, which are abundant in mitochondria and in sphingomyelin, found particularly in the brain. Small Animal Dietary Supplement: Active Ingredient(s): CHOLODIN contains: Phosphatidylcholine (from soy lecithin), choline (as chloride), dlmethionine, inositol, zinc (as oxide), niacinamide, vitamin E, thiamine (mononitrate), riboflavin, pyridoxine (HCl), selenium (sodium selenite), vitamin B12 (cobalamin concentrate), and dexpanthenol. Formulated with a flavor base. Dosage and Administration: Usual Daily Dose: Cats and Small Dogs 1/21 tablet 1/41/2 teaspoonful Large Dogs 12 tablets 1/21 teaspoonful The tablets may be fed by hand or crumbled and mixed with food.

He seems to be much more aware that it is about to happen and is able to let us know better.

I am so happy to have found this stuff! My dog is a 17 year old Australian Cattle Dog and Jack Russell mix. In the past 6 months he has really started to loose interest in everything but food. Thankfully he lives to eat, so as long as I keep feeding him ... :) Anyway - he paces a LOT and was starting to get himself stuck in corners and such. He also has had a problem with fecal incontinence. Add to this mix a very stressful past 2 months leading up to a move last week. My poor guy was a basket case. He even started getting a mild case of the night time crazies. Our vet suggested I try Cholodin as well as DAP. I started both on the same day - which happened to be about a week before our move. I didn't notice any change for about 36 hours. But then it was amazing. He became so much calmer and he is sleeping though the night. He has only been on Choldin for 2 weeks and I am also still using the DAP, but he is doing great! And he handled the move like a champ. He still paces, I think maybe this is just and Aussie dog thing, as our other dog used to do this as well. But his pacing isn't as wild and he isn't getting stuck or lost anywhere. As for the pooping in the house ... that is about 50% better. He seems to be much more aware that it is about to happen and is able to let us know better. He really seems to be very aware of everything that is going on and not nearly as confused. Hopefully he will continue to show improvements. But even if he stays just the way he is now, I am thrilled that my 17.5 year old dog who just went through such a stressful move is doing as great as he is. This stuff absolutely works! I am sure he will be on it for the rest of his life. Please check out the DAP as well. It was a lifesaver during our move and now getting settled in a new place!

Thanks to other reviewers, I learned about Cholodin for night time craziness. Our active 12 year old English Setter suddenly started losing it at night--moaning, barking, pacing, scratching the floor while turning in circles. I took him to the vet who told me about canine dementia and recommended a sedative which didn't really help and made him groggy into the next day. It was scary and sad. I felt hopeful when I read the experiences of others, and after giving our dog 2 pills a day, he too had no symptoms by the end of the week. I got a great price here and it arrived quickly. I am so grateful for this product.

Recommended by our vet, this larger jar is much less expensive per tab than the one he sold us in the office. Delivery was also fast! Thanks

Some dogs have anxiety issues triggered by various events or situations. I'm not sure how Cholodin works, but it definitely has a calming effect on dogs, and seems to alleviate some dementia in older dogs. We've had good results with it.

This choline enhancer really helps young dogs with focus and improved behavior and helps cognitive function in seniors. I use it for my year old Lab and 10 year old Lab X and am impressed with the results. It was recommended by a friend who's a biochemist and uses it for her dogs who do obedience and agility competition.

My dog, Hoosier, has been taking this for over a year. He is around 14 years old (not sure because we got him as an adult from a rescue) and had started getting "Sundowner's" over a year ago. He was forgetting to pee outside and walking down the hall looking lost at night - scratching on doors then looking blank when the door was opened for him.
This has helped him immensely. We also give him OTC supplements for his joints and hopefully he will continue on in his old age being healthy and just mildly demented. He has returned to being housebroken and his episodes of confusion have lessened. I recommend giving this a try is your dog has these problems.
Being a psychiatric nurse, I was familiar with dementia but didn't think I would see it in my dog!

We have been giving Cholodin to our dogs for years. As they move well into their senior years, 10 plus, we start feeding our dogs Cholodin. Since we started that, we have had one dog reach 16, one 15, one 14 and now have one who is 18 and still going.

2012 was a bad year, my Papillon was diagnosed with Canine Cognitive Disorder...Alzheimer's Disease in dogs. Too late did I discover this product to save my little boy. I was left with an almost full bottle of tablets when all was said and done, I didn't want to throw them out and I knew no one who had dogs to give them to. Within 3 months of losing Reggie, my Shar Pei started showing the same symptoms. Confusion, whinning, getting stuck in corners, accidents everyday, so I started her on what I had left. Then ordered another bottle. The confusion has vanished, she is as sharp as ever, asks to go out instead of having accidents on the floor/rug and loves to play again. She is about 14 and 1/2 years old and still acts like a puppy thanks mostly to this suppliment. I recommend this to owners with older dogs whenever asked and am thankful it is on the market to purchase without going thru a VET to get it; for the bottle I buy here for $35.00, my VET want $85. So the saving are substantial. I can't say enough good things about this product and highly recommend it.
