This film has a sordid history,
This review is from: Chooch (DVD)
Let me start by saying that I have yet to see this movie. In fact, I'm just gearing up to purchase it soon and watch it.
But it must be stated that this movie has led to the downfall of the careers of at least five individuals with connections to Wall Street and the state pension in New York. The movie was funded by various private investment managers, who were friends with the producer of the film, the brother of the pension's former CIO, David Loglisci. Chooch plays a prominent role in the pay-to-play, kick-back scandal being investigated by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, in that some of the alleged gifts and bribes involved in the scandal were capital commitments to help fund the creation of Chooch. If you need to learn more, read about it in the press. Meanwhile, no matter what kind of horrible crap this movie actually turns out to be, it has already left a serious legacy of corruption and sordid behavior that compels me to give it the highest ranking available.

This isn't Fellini. Its spaghetti bolognese, low budget, cute, and funny. These characterizations are dead on as anyone from the East Coast knows. A good time flick.

I almost never write reviews but this one is so bad that I felt I had to. The idea of the movie has potential to be hilariously funny or a great suspense movie; what I watched was neither. The story jumps around from place to place so fast missing key details that you almost feel lost at times. None of the actors do any good making the story believable. The acting was so forced at times that I felt like I was watching a very bad play. If ramdom people were picked off of the street you would get higher quality acting. From the very first "Mexican" scene on I was caught up in how over the top fake it was. The camera is never even held steady. The only descent job done in this movie was by the dog, although I never really understood why the dog was such a major part of the plot.
This movie reminds me of a bunch of kids getting their parents video camera and trying to shoot a movie. It's just that bad. If I could have gave it 0 stars I would have.

Although I never saw this title at the movie theaters it's well worth viewing and owning. If you're an Italian American Comedy Movie fan or know a BIG Chooch you'll love this picture and soundtrack.

This film is a must see with your "crew"
It's hilarious and the characters are spot on with the neighborhoods on the East Coast. I love Kiwi the dog, and the two lead actors are great together. If you just want to forget your worries and get lost in the "neighborhood" see this movie!

I saw this movie in new york at least a year ago, granted I did have several cocktails prior to seeing it, but it was hilarious. Explosions and stunt scenes were brilliantly directed. It does drag in some spots, mainly in parts featuring the rat of a dog, thus I gave it 4 stars.

It helps that my friend Paola is a lead in the film ;-). I guess I'm biased, but I loved it.
