Tuvanian throat singing featured on NPR,

This is an incredible CD if you are interested in Tuvanian throat singing.. I first heard of this art form on National Public Radio and if you were looking for the CD featured - this is it! Tuvanian throat singing is a historically rich tradition that involves using the vocal chords to produce high-pitch melodies on top of thick bass lines.. I have never heard anything like it before - it has a definitie tribal aspect to it.. Listen to the selections on this page and you'll see what I'm talking about.. Definitely a good buy if you are into cultural/world music.

an excellent example of music that has not succumbed to western influence. It maintains its integrity to the specific region of Asia that it is from. Long may it last!

I have heard a group from Mongolia on two different occasions and have been really amazed and delighted by their performances. This CD seemed to reflect the performances I had seen. I was really happy to have found this particular one.

I had only heard of throat singing in relation to Paul Penna and his blues. When I came across Choomej: Throat-Singing From the Center of Asia I had to buy it. Well not only did I like it, but my friends that have listened to it think it is great.
