From School Library Journal
Grade 5-9-This easy-to-follow and well-written text provides a broad overview of the field. Leone describes the world of information, the role of a trained librarian in organizing it, and the diversity of the work environment. Five chapters cover job descriptions and salaries, a history of the profession and the earliest libraries, the education and coursework necessary in preparing for a career, the types of work each aspect of the library entails, the role of the Web, and the future of the library. Captioned, full-color photos on almost every other page break up the text, but fail to portray the profession in a very colorful light. Some are fuzzy, and look dated; many are dark, dreary, drab, and fail to convey the satisfaction that comes with work in this profession.
