This review is from: Chop Socky Chooks, Vol. 1 (DVD)
Welcome to Wasabi World - a huge shopping district with lots of stores, eateries, and top notch security robots and ninja chimps. But this place is run by a villain named Dr. Wasabi who keeps attempting to defeat his rivals: the Chop Socky Chooks - a trio of kung-fu style heroes who hardly look like chickens. The Chooks consist of the smart and sassy Chickadee Pao - a.k.a. Chick P, the wise and wise-cracking Chuckie Chan, and the smooth dude with smoother moves K.O. Joe.

13 episodes of this terrific 2-disc set include:

"Game Over Chooks!" - In an attempt to save two kids held against their will, the Chooks somehow enter a video game world.

"Big Bad Bubba" - Doc Wasabi's hulking sidekick Bubba gets possessed by an ancient demon and goes on a rampage.

"Kobura Strikes" - An old rival of Chuckie Chan's seeks revenge.

"Double Trouble" - The Chooks encounter robot counterparts of themselves.

"Do You Want Thighs with That?" - A new liposuction clinic and a new burger sauce have a suspicious link to one another.

"In Your Dreams" - Chuckie's nightmares becomes a problem for him, especially when he takes part of Wasabi's Dream World.

"Snake in the Class" - Kobura returns only this time he reveals the secret identities of the Chooks. Uh-oh.

"Chop Socky Whoops" - We learn the secret origin of the Chooks and how they decided to fight crime thanks to Dr. Wasabi's time-traveling camera.

Guess it seems that even chicken legs can pack a punch, too ! So if you like action-packed adventures like these, then you'll definitely like this series as seen on Cartoon Network. Look for more shows like this on Cartoon Network on TV and online, too.

3.0 out of 5 stars wacky mayhem, November 10, 2009
This review is from: Chop Socky Chooks, Vol. 1 (DVD)
if you are looking for some zany and crazy adventures for your tweens and preteens, this is the dvd series for you. i have to admit, i felt a little bit of skepticism when i first popped this dvd into our player, but Chop Socky Chooks, Vol. 1 actually delivered.

taking place in "wasabi world," these three crime-fighting chickens work together to defeat the evil plots of dr. wasabi. each hero, chick p, ko joe and chuckie chan, have their own gifts and skills that they use together to overcome "virtual villains, karaoke crazies, rogue robots, prehistoric predators and even fast-food fiends."

i have to admit that my favorite character of the series is the villain, dr. wasabi, which isn't generally the case. he seems to be channeling a little mike myers as dr. evil. his lines brought me the most laughs.

in some ways, this show is a lot like the other "super-heroes-battling-a-crackpot-evil-villain" cartoons i've seen. but with the comedic addition of dr. wasabi and his apish toady, i think series manages to bring something different to the table.

it is still a little too flashy and intense for my children, but i do think i would be happy to let them watch and enjoy it once they get a little older. the "violence" is not really violent, just intense. the description i received is apt: "full of wacky adventures and martial arts mayhem." i think mayhem and wacky are good descriptors of what you will find in Chop Socky Chooks, Vol. 1
