One of the most devoted interpreters of Chopin ever!,
By Hiram Gomez Pardo (Valencia, Venezuela) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Chopin: 21 Nocturnes; 26 Préludes (Audio CD)
Adam Harasiewicz belongs to a generation of pianists in what the sense of color, search of self-expression not necesarily was under the service of arousing the elemental emotions. His playing is far from the fevered lyricism. rather, Harasiewicz sounds very idiosyncratic, personal and intimate. He does not seek expressive beauty but the way, taking a clear freedom in tempos, to round out the melodic phrase for the sake of more personal expression. In general, Harasiewicz is more comfortable with the Nocturnes rather than the Preludes. I feel that in the Nocturnes more sense of intimacy, introspection depicted by a marked filigree balance. Buy this album. It is a rewarding experience.

A very very average work!,

This is a very average interpretation of Chopin's nocturnes. I was actually surprised to hear the melody being completely drowned by harmony at times! You'd expect a seasoned performer to do a much better job!I own Nocturne sets by Rubinstein, Arrau and Barenboim and I prefer them in that order. I wouldn't want to list this work in my list. Sorry.

For Chopin lovers, to be sure...,

This review is from: Chopin: 21 Nocturnes; 26 Préludes (Audio CD)
For some reason I just had a distinct urge to seek out some of this composer's material and ended up buying this solid representation of his work. It seems that all the well-known Nocturnes are here along with what appears to be the complete set of Preludes. That's quite amazing considering that this 2-CD set was under $20 when I bought it. As for the pianist, Harasiewicz may not be as widely recognized as other highly renowned Chopin experts, but his balanced, thoughtful playing gives me the feeling that he shouldn't have been overlooked from the start. This is a wonderful collection of some of the finest piano music ever composed. I'm grateful to have picked it up at all.
