Recently I rediscovered the great French pianist Samson Francois. He was the reason I started playing the piano (his 1st Ballade and 2nd Scherzo blew me away at age 8). Samson Francois is not very well known anymore, but he is a pianist of the highest order. On this DVD I especially loved the live recording of the Ravel concerto, played with great gusto. The Chopin concerto is, to be honest, of a somewhat lesser quality, but still very enjoyable.
Also on this DVD some solo works, of which especially the Debussy Toccata and the Chopin waltz are just beautiful.
I don't like to analyse his playing, you just have to convince yourself. You won't regret it!
