More About the Author

(Special note for 2014 - I'm editing all my books' titles and covers and that's a huge task. The "Non-Mozart" titles and covers are becoming the "How to..." titles and covers. If you go to a book and find the title or cover still say "The Non-Mozart's Guide to...", it means that I haven't yet completely fixed that book. I will, rest assured! The info is still great and worth every penny! I'm only changing the titles and covers!)

I was born in 1952 in my hometown of Tucson, Arizona and I grew up writing. Today, I believe I've mastered that craft. I was also drawn to teaching and music. Thus, way back in 1987, I combined that love of making music with my teaching ability to go into business for myself. I became a keyboard instructor. I currently teach only ADULT students but in the past I've taught people of all ages AND instruments.

There's never been a shortage of folks who want to learn how to play. It does take some effort to play any complex instrument. You must practice to learn. It is, however, FUN work that has many, many benefits not the least of which is better health. You can find free samples of my writing and info at my blog for music students (the latest posts of that blog are on the right side!:)

or my website:

Sorry, but you'll simply have to copy and paste these links into your browser.

As I say, I only teach older students. This is relatively uncommon in the keyboard teaching world Too many teachers treat adults as big children. This doesn't work all that well - for obvious reasons.

I hope that what you get from this is I've learned many DIFFERENT things to play on the many DIFFERENT brands of keyboards since I started teaching. These books are my way to pass on what I've learned to those eager to make THEIR music THEIR way.

Anyone interested in any sort of discussion with me is cordially invited to email me directly at I love to talk to folks.
