5.0 out of 5 stars Great for guitarist learning chords.
I bought this book when I started to learn guitar. I must have looked at it almost every day the first year.

I rarely look at it now, because, thanks to this book, I know the chords. But just the other day I looked up a chord I had forgotten. The first time I've used this book in a year.

There are other chord books that have more chords and photographs, but this...

2.0 out of 5 stars better to learn chord construction
This book will be more useful to guitarists than to keyboardists, but for guitarists as well as for keyboardists it is still more useful to learn the principles of chord construction, voicing, and voice-leading than to consult a recipe book. For keyboardists interested in practical and theoretical information particular to the rock idiom I recommend PENTATONIC SCALES...

I bought this book when I started to learn guitar. I must have looked at it almost every day the first year.

I rarely look at it now, because, thanks to this book, I know the chords. But just the other day I looked up a chord I had forgotten. The first time I've used this book in a year.

There are other chord books that have more chords and photographs, but this book has most of the important chords with easy diagrams to understand the chord. Those other books are also three to four times more expensive than this book.

Great for beginning guitarists or those who have dropped guitar and started again after a long lapse and also a great reference.

I have really enjoyed my copy of this book. It has helped me and my praise band many times. Most of us can not read sheet music well enough to figure out certain chords, and this guide helps us to understand. It has even helped those who can read music...although they may not want me to know it!! :)

Thanks Hal Leonard Corp.! I couldn't have made it better myself!!

A must have on the shelf of any keyboard or guitar player. The library of chords is a good reference tool for looking up those chords you don't use too often.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chord book: musician's practical tool, February 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Chords for Keyboard and Guitar (Paperback Songs) (Paperback)
This chord book is a must for any and all keyboard or guitar players. Beginning with some good music theory basics and then providing the fingering for more than 1800 chords (in various positions and structure options), this book is invaluable. Another practical feature is it's size (4" x 6" x 0.5")which conveniently fits in amongst music gear and provides the solutions for those ever present questions on what is "that"? chord or what are the options on how to play it.

When the usual, routine chords are mastered, this book provides the challenge of showing all the other chords which could be added to the musician's "bag of tricks".

Depending on actual useage and personal preference, there is a plastic, spiral binding version of this book.

In conclusion, this refernece book is well worth the purchase cost and is infectious to refer other musicians to. Enjoy!
